What to expect

The Kölner Herbstvolksfest 2026 brings a funfair atmosphere to Deutzer Werft on the Rhine from Saturday, 24 October, to Sunday, 1 November. Directly opposite Cologne’s old town, Deutzer Kirmes combines a riverside visit with rides and food and drink. Its location between the Rhine bridges is special: from here, you can enjoy a stroll around the funfair while taking in the view of the other side of the Rhine.

Cologne Autumn Fair 2026: nine days on the Rhine

The official organiser's website confirms the event from 24 October to 1 November 2026. The venue is Deutzer Werft, between Deutzer Brücke and Severinsbrücke. This means the fair is not on a remote fairground, but right on the banks of the Rhine. The official site map should help you find your way between the rides, food and drink outlets and service points. You can plan your visit around the areas that interest you most.

Rides and family activities

Rides and other attractions for different age groups are planned for the Deutzer Funfair. The organiser's site map also lists food and drink, toilets and a baby-changing room. However, the individual stalls and rides that will actually be there in autumn 2026 cannot be fully verified from the official information currently available. We therefore do not present an older line-up of rides as a current list without checking it. If you want to visit for a particular ride, check the official site map shortly before your visit.

Cologne Autumn Fair 2026: understanding the opening times

The organiser has not yet published a complete list of daily funfair opening times on its website. We are therefore deliberately not giving unverified daily times to the minute here. One practical detail is already confirmed: according to the organiser, the rides close 30 minutes before the event ends. Also note that the road closure times published by the city are not automatically the opening times for all the rides.

Getting there by train and Stadtbahn

The organiser explicitly recommends using public transport. Köln Messe\/Deutz station, served by S-Bahn, regional and long-distance trains, is an important transport hub. However, the City of Cologne has announced extensive track and infrastructure works during the 2026 autumn holidays, affecting, among other things, Stadtbahn lines 1 and 9. It is therefore worth checking your connection just before you travel. As an alternative, the city lists Stadtbahn lines 3 and 4 via Severinsbrücke.

Driving to Deutzer Werft

If you travel by car, expect restrictions around the site. The City of Cologne has announced, among other things, closures of Siegburger Straße and neighbouring residents' streets on the funfair days. The car park below Severinsbrücke will also be affected. Instead of driving straight to the Rhine, you can use the nearby multi-storey car parks; the organiser mentions the parking facilities at Lanxess Arena, for example. Allow extra time, especially at weekends.

What you should know before your visit

You can find the latest updates and the site map on the official Deutzer Kirmes website. The City of Cologne also publishes information about traffic restrictions. You can discover more funfair dates in our events calendar. The cover image is a genuine archive panorama of Deutzer Kirmes from October 2019, not a photo of the 2026 edition.
