American Dream – Wilfried Hoffmann

US atmosphere, music and rides you control

Operator: Wilfried Hoffmann (Leverkusen)

Autoscooter American Dream Hoffmann brings American flair and classic fun to the funfair with electrically powered cars. The ride is part of the showman's business run by Wilfried Hoffmann from Leverkusen. Flashing lights, US flags and music set the scene inside the pavilion. Once you're on board, you choose your own route: unlike a roller coaster, there's no fixed track, just an open floor where the small cars cross paths.

Highlights & records

American-themed design with US flags and red and blue lighting effects; a long-established bumper cars ride run by Leverkusen showman Hoffmann.

American Dream is a bumper cars ride for anyone who wants to take the wheel: its American-themed design and the bustle on the ride floor make every round different.

What it's like to ride Autoscooter American Dream Hoffmann

After climbing in, you choose your own route around the ride area. Accelerate straight ahead, then turn sharply and dodge the next car: these simple decisions are exactly what makes bumper cars so appealing. The other drivers constantly create new situations. Sometimes you roll across the area undisturbed; sometimes your plan ends in a surprising encounter with another vehicle.

On American Dream, the ride comes with the atmosphere of an American-themed bumper car hall. The colourful lights and music give the attraction its own character. A bumper car ride is both a ride and a meeting place. Some visitors take a leisurely spin, while others try to find new routes with skilful manoeuvres. Because each ride cycle depends on the riders, no two rounds are exactly alike.

History: American Dream Hoffmann bumper cars

American Dream Hoffmann has been associated with the Leverkusen showman family Hoffmann for many years. A report on the Opladener Stadtfest from 2018 describes its US-themed design, with red and blue lights and waving flags. Gilbert Hoffmann was also working at the ticket booth there. This shows how closely the ride is linked to the family business and the region's funfair tradition.

The name American Dream is not unique, however: other showmen have also operated bumper car rides under this name. This profile therefore specifically covers Hoffmann's ride from Leverkusen. Its identity comes from its operator and documented appearances, not just from the lettering on its façade. If you would like to discover more bumper cars and classics, you can find them in our attractions overview.

Who is American Dream suitable for?

The bumper car ride is a good choice if you want to do more than just ride at the fairground and would like to steer for yourself. It's especially fun with friends, as you keep meeting one another during the ride. The principle is easy for families to understand too. The operator decides on site what age and height rules apply and whether children need to be accompanied.

Another advantage is the variety of lively and quieter moments. You can adjust how you drive to the situation on the track. Even so, minor collisions are part of the typical bumper car experience. If you're new to rides like this, you can first watch how the other cars move, then get used to your own car.
