Highlights & records

Three floors with a factory theme, obstacle course and a large slide to the exit; debut on 4 June 2022 at the Menden Whitsun funfair.

At Meyer's Die Chaosfabrik, a colourful obstacle course takes you through three floors – right up to the large slide at the exit.

What to expect at Die Chaosfabrik

The concept is quite different from a classic roundabout ride: visitors enter the walkthrough attraction and make their way through several levels. The route first takes you upwards. Along the way, moving and visual obstacles add variety. Descriptions of the attraction mention wobble floors, distorting mirrors, rotating elements, and light and water effects. This makes each section a different experience.

The design is based on a crazy factory. Bright colours, industrial motifs and playful chaos suit the name. What's especially appealing is that the experience comes not only from the setting, but also from moving through it yourself: you have to find your bearings, tackle small challenges and find your way through the floors.

At the end, a large slide awaits you, leading towards the exit. This gives the tour a clear highlight before you find yourself back on the fairground. Chaosfabrik combines several forms of classic funfair entertainment into one continuous tour.

History: The Chaos Factory by Manuel Meyer

The attraction was built in 2021 and made its debut on 4 June 2022 at the Pfingstkirmes in Menden. This makes it one of the newer large walkthrough attractions at German fairs. The structure was made by the Czech manufacturer Alestechnic and spans three floors.

The Chaos Factory took over a role in the Meyer showman business that had previously been filled by the Pirate Slide. This older slide was sold; however, the new walkthrough attraction is a standalone installation, not a converted Pirate Slide. This change shows how the offerings of a showman business can evolve: instead of a straightforward sliding experience, Meyer now offers a whole course with several play and movement elements.

Timeline

Who is the ride suitable for?

The Chaos Factory appeals to visitors who prefer to get active themselves rather than being carried in a gondola. Groups can also enjoy the surprising elements, as reactions to moving floors and unusual perspectives are part of the fun. The experience also differs from a traditional ghost train: the focus is on playful obstacles and the distinctive factory setting.

If you are visiting with younger children, you should check the participation requirements and the nature of the course before entering. Some obstacles may require agility or sure footing. It is also worth allowing some time for the course rather than expecting a short carousel ride. You can find more attractions of this kind in our attractions overview.
