Jaarmarktkermis Niel 2026 brings funfair attractions and other fairground events to the town centre from 6 to 16 November. The municipality of Niel published updated traffic information on 21 October. Particularly important for your journey: several roads will be closed temporarily, parking spaces will be unavailable and some bus routes will run differently than usual. This is based on the municipality’s official announcement and an information letter dated 20 October 2026.
During the funfair from 6 to 16 November, Emile Vanderveldelaan, Elisabethplein and Rupelstraat between Heideplaats and Schuttershofstraat will be completely closed to traffic. Parking is also prohibited there. Garages in Rupelstraat at house numbers 1 to 41 will be inaccessible during this period. Dorpsstraat will generally remain open to traffic in both directions. Heideplaats can also be reached via Dorpsstraat.
Access to Molenstraat and Kapelstraat is via Antwerpsestraat. Temporary two-way traffic will be allowed there, with passing places. The municipality notes that local signs and diversions take precedence. If you are travelling by car, you should therefore allow extra time and not rely on your usual routes.
On Monday, 9 November, a larger area in the centre will be closed off from 06:00 to 15:00. The roads affected include Dorpsstraat, Ridder Berthoutlaan, Schuttershofstraat and Sint-Hubertusplein. Emiel Dewittstraat and Oud Begijnhof are also within the area that will be closed temporarily. Kwaede Wielstraat will be completely closed on 10 and 11 November. This information refers to the relevant traffic days and does not indicate additional funfair opening hours.
The regular weekly market is also being temporarily relocated: the weekly market will take place on 3 and 17 November at Emile Vanderveldelaan. The weekly market will not take place on Tuesday, 10 November, because of the funfair. The actual fair on Monday, 9 November, is a separate event.
The municipality strongly recommends walking or cycling to the centre wherever possible. A bicycle parking area is provided in Dorpsstraat. There are also changes for bus passengers: from 1 to 18 November, route 18C terminates at Niel railway station. On 11 November, routes 29A and 29B will not serve the stops in Boomsestraat; instead, they will be diverted via Matenstraat and Niel railway station.
You can find the funfair programme, including the market, the 2-euro promotion and other offers, on our Jaarmarktkermis Niel 2026 event page. We have also added the updated travel information there. For precise restricted areas and the full information for residents, we recommend the official municipal notice and the PDF linked there.
