Ganzenmarkt Coevorden 2026 offers a sporting programme on Sunday, 8 November, alongside the funfair and market tradition: the Reclamedeal.nl Ganzenloop runs through the area around the fortified town. In its press release dated 14 September, the organiser announced the routes, start times and practical information for 2026. This means you can combine your visit to Ganzenmarkt with a run or a walk.
You can choose from routes of 7, 17 and 27 kilometres. The longest distance starts at 8:30 o'clock in Zwinderen. There are two start groups for the 17-kilometre route, at 9:30 and 10:30 o'clock. If you prefer the shorter 7-kilometre route, you start in Steenwijksmoer. The organiser lists start times of 11:30 and 13:30 o'clock.
The Ganzenloop is not only for ambitious runners. Walkers and families can also take part, according to the organiser. When planning, you should therefore consider the distance and its corresponding start group. The routes pass through the countryside around Coevorden and do not run exclusively over the actual funfair site.
There is a separate Kids Sponsorloop for children on the same Sunday. It starts at 13:30 o'clock at Weeshuisweide in Coevorden and lasts twelve minutes. This makes it a family-friendly sporting event during the Ganzenmarkt weekend. If you are visiting with children, you can combine it with the other activities in the town centre.
It is important to distinguish between the two: the start times given are for the running event. They are not general opening times for the rides. You should also note that the conditions for taking part in the sporting competition are separate from those for visiting the funfair.
The organisers plan to run buses from the Swanenburg car park in Coevorden to the start locations in Zwinderen and Steenwijksmoer. After the run, a bus back to the start locations is due to leave at 15:20 o'clock. The organiser also announces refreshment stations along the routes and in the finish area.
The press release states an entry fee of 10 euros per person. Registration opened in September. You should check directly with the organiser whether places are still available for your chosen distance. This also applies to possible changes to start times, bus services or organisational details.
The Ganzenloop is part of a larger festival weekend. The programme also includes the official opening on Friday and the traditional market day on Monday. You can find an overview of the funfair days and other events in our Ganzenmarkt Coevorden 2026 listing. The binding details of the running event are in the organiser's press release.
