Coevorden – Ganzenmarkt 2026
What to expect
Ganzenmarkt Coevorden 2026 brings funfair attractions to the Dutch fortified town from Wednesday, 4 November, to Monday, 9 November. The historic market on Monday is the highlight; before then, there are rides and an extensive town programme. If you are planning a visit, distinguish between the funfair's operating hours and the times of the individual accompanying events.
Ganzenmarkt Coevorden 2026: Funfair from 4 to 9 November
The funfair begins on Wednesday, 4 November, and runs through Monday, 9 November. The central meeting point for the celebrations is the market in the town centre. However, the programme is spread across several locations, including Weeshuisweide and Ganzenhut. The map pin at the market is therefore a reference point, not a claim that all attractions are in one place. So far, we have not found an officially published, complete daily schedule for the rides; the event times for the stage venues are not the funfair's opening hours.
The programme around Ganzenmarkt Coevorden 2026
On Friday, 6 November, the official opening of Ganzenmarkt weekend is scheduled for 19. According to the announced programme, fireworks on Weeshuisweide follow at 19:15. On Saturday, 7 November, a children's programme is planned from 12, including craft activities and a small train. These are additional activities during the festival weekend, not a confirmed list of showmen.
On Sunday, 8 November, things get sporty: the Ganzenloop follows various routes through the region. In addition, according to an explicit correction from the organiser, the public ecumenical service in the Ganzenhut starts at 10 o’clock, not at 10:30 o’clock. The shops are open from 12 to 17 o’clock, and this must not be confused with the funfair’s opening times.
Traditional market day and elections on 9 November
Monday, 9 November, is the main Ganzenmarkt day. According to the published festival programme, the Aole Wievenmarkt starts at 9 o’clock in the town centre. The elections for Miss Ganzenhoedster, Mini-Miss Ganzenhoedster and Mister Ganzenhoeder follow in the afternoon. This tradition sets Ganzenmarkt apart from an ordinary autumn funfair: a historic fair and a modern fair come together here.
Rides, admission and planning your visit
The official documents reviewed do not provide a reliable, complete line-up of rides and showmen taking part in 2026. We therefore deliberately do not list any unconfirmed attractions. Prices for individual rides and definitive admission arrangements for all programme areas have also not been published in full. Check these details directly with the organiser before setting off.
Getting to Coevorden town centre
Use the Markt in the historic centre as a reference point for your visit. As activities are spread across several streets and squares, it is worth checking the latest programme. Different routes or traffic arrangements may apply on Friday evening and on the traditional Monday compared with an ordinary shopping day. We do not make claims here about specific road closures or parking charges without up-to-date official confirmation.
The Stichting Ganzenmarkt Coevorden publishes the current programme and any corrections. You can find more dates in the region in the funfair calendar. For a relaxed visit, check the funfair date in advance against the separately listed times for the market and stage events.
