Stadtmarketing Ibbenbüren explicitly confirms the four festival days on its official website. The fair has marked the start of September since 1744. With over 200 stalls and attractions spread across around 10.000 square metres, it is one of North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest town-centre funfairs, according to the organiser.
Ibbenbürener Großkirmes 2027: location and festival grounds
Ibbenbürener Großkirmes takes place across large parts of the town centre. Neumarkt, Große Straße, the areas around Marktstraße and the other streets leading to Unterer Markt are particularly well known. Large rides stand among shops and historic buildings across the connected funfair areas. You can therefore explore the grounds on foot in several circuits. Stadtmarketing describes the event as the second-largest town-centre funfair in the state.
Rides and attractions
According to the official description, the typical market offering includes more than 200 stalls and attractions. These include spectacular rides, classic funfair games, children’s carousels and smaller family attractions. Which specific rides 2027 will come is decided only after the organiser’s application and selection process. The application deadline was 1 October 2026. There are plenty of food stalls and confectionery stands among the rides. The smell of roasted almonds, treats and savoury dishes is just as much a part of the atmosphere as the illuminated carousels. The town centre is also great for a stroll.
