Operator: Willy Ordelman (Apeldoorn, Netherlands)
Phantom Ordelman is a large travelling pendulum ride operated by Dutch showman Willy Ordelman. The ride is part of the manufacturer KMG’s XXL series and was first presented at a funfair in 2025. With its elaborately designed facade and tall pendulum arm, it catches the eye from a distance. During the ride, you experience a rapid succession of rising, spinning and the feeling of being almost weightless for a moment.

Large swinging movements and a rotating gondola for fans of intense rides.
What it’s like to ride Phantom Ordelman
After boarding, you take a seat in one of the rows. Once the restraints are closed and checked, the pendulum arm starts to swing. With each movement, the gondola rises higher while also rotating. This means you constantly switch between views of the ground, the sky and your surroundings. At the highest points, you get an especially intense feeling of height and movement.
The passenger gondola has a total of 20 seats. The seats are arranged in opposing rows, giving passengers different views. The combination of a large swinging motion and the gondola’s rotation is much more intense than an ordinary pirate ship ride. If you’ve never ridden an XXL pendulum swing ride before, it’s best to watch a full ride cycle first.

History of Phantom Ordelman
The ride was built by KMG in the Netherlands in 2025. It made its debut on 23 May 2025 at Steinert-Kirmes in Lüdenscheid. As a new attraction, it drew attention there. Over the following months, the ride was also documented at other German and Dutch fairs. The specialist database Ride-Index lists a maximum height of 45 metres.
According to the documented technical specifications, the ride requires an area measuring 18 by 14 metres. Its connected load is listed as 155 kilowatts. These figures refer to showman Ordelman’s specific XXL ride, not to other rides with similar names. Specialist directories also describe the ride type as KMG XXL or Afterburner XXL. Reliable information on the minimum height or a fixed ride duration for this ride is not sufficiently available, so no estimates are given.

Tips for your first XXL swing ride
Do you enjoy heights and strong acceleration? Then this pendulum swing ride is one of the exciting attractions at a fair. However, the combination of swinging and spinning can be challenging for very sensitive riders. So follow the safety notices at the entrance and the staff’s instructions. Depending on the requirements, glasses, bags and loose items must be stored securely before the ride.
The ride comes into its own in the evening, when its illuminated structure stands out clearly against the fairground. If you’d rather take photos than ride, find a spot with an unobstructed view of the pendulum ride. Admission and ride prices may vary depending on the event. A previous appearance at a funfair does not automatically mean that Phantom will return the following year.
