Labyrinthe – Alain Coenen

Alain Coenen's glass maze

Operator: Alain Coenen

Labyrinthe Coenen is a travelling glass maze run by Belgian showman Alain Coenen. In Belgian line-up lists, it is called “Glazen Doolhof”, meaning glass maze. Here, you find your way on foot through a maze of glass and mirror walls. At funfairs such as Foire à 1 Euro in Huy, Labyrinthe is a classic for families and groups of friends.

Glass, mirrors and plenty of dead ends: in Labyrinthe, the journey is the destination.

Experience Labyrinthe Coenen

You enter the maze and make your way forward slowly. Transparent panels and mirrors make corridors seem longer than they are, and dead ends look like open paths. So sometimes you walk straight into a wall you hadn't even noticed. You can also often see your companions behind the glass, but can't get through to them.

The best way to find out how many rooms or paths Labyrinthe has is to explore it for yourself. With friends, finding the exit soon becomes a little competition.

The history of Labyrinthe Coenen

Glass mazes have been among the most popular walk-through attractions at Belgian funfairs for decades. Belgian trade publications mention Alain Coenen with several walk-through attractions. Older lists also mention a glass maze called Cristal Palace operated by Coenen. It has not yet been confirmed whether this is the same attraction. The manufacturer and year of construction have not been publicly documented either.

Operator and appearances of Labyrinthe Coenen

Alain Coenen also travels with the Round Up Twister and the haunted house Mercredi. The organiser's line-up list will tell you whether Labyrinthe Coenen is at your funfair. Find the dates in the funfair calendar and more mirror and walk-through attractions in the attractions overview.

Who is the glass maze suitable for?

Labyrinthe is suitable for children, teenagers and adults. Younger children are best accompanied by an adult. The rules are displayed at the entrance. Walk slowly and hold your hands slightly out in front of you so you don't walk into a panel. Floor markings, for example, can help you find your way.
