Waltrop Spring Funfair 2027: From Friday, 30 April to Sunday, 2 May 2027, Raiffeisenplatz and Herne-Bay-Platz are expected to once again become a lively meeting place for funfair fans. The town of Waltrop says its spring funfair traditionally takes place on the first weekend in May. The specific date for 2027 has not yet been published as a separate annual schedule.

The spring funfair is also a popular event in Waltrop, in the district of Recklinghausen. Raiffeisenplatz and the neighbouring Herne-Bay-Platz provide space for rides, fairground games and funfair food stalls. The site is also so centrally located that you can combine your visit with a stroll around town. The three-day event therefore offers families a lovely opportunity to spend an afternoon together.

In 2026, the town of Waltrop held its spring funfair from Friday to Sunday in the two squares. The town's citizens' service records the event's usual timing as the first weekend in May. This makes the weekend from 30 April to 2 May 2027 a sensible fit, although the individual event announcement is still to come.

Merry-go-rounds, rides and game stalls

At the spring funfair 2026, the town offered the Musik-Shop, Crazy Dancer and Millennium Drive bumper cars, among other attractions. There were children's merry-go-rounds and a bungee trampoline for younger visitors. Duck fishing, ball throwing and string pulling were also part of the traditional line-up. However, these attractions are examples from 2026 only; no official line-up of rides for 2027 has been announced yet.

A traditional funfair also has plenty to offer when it comes to food. In previous years, for example, there have been bratwurst, almonds, ice cream and crêpes. If you don't want to go on the rides, you can take your time strolling between the stalls. Afterwards, you might enjoy another lap around the fairground as the attraction lights come on.

The planned dates are Friday, 30 April to Sunday, 2 May 2027. For the 2026 event, the town confirmed opening hours of 14 to 22 on all three days. These official hours from the previous year have been provisionally carried over to 2027. Any new opening hours announced by the town for the coming year will, of course, take precedence.

Opening and special activities for children

The spring funfair 2026 began with an official opening by the mayor. Children could also meet characters from well-known TV series at a Meet & Greet. Admission, parking and getting there

As in previous years, entry to the public funfair is free. You only pay for individual rides, games and food. The two squares are also in the centre of Waltrop.
