What to expect

Reeser Kirmes 2027 is expected to run from Saturday, 25 September, to Tuesday, 28 September 2027. This period follows Rees's traditional four-day funfair schedule, but the town has not yet confirmed it specifically for 2027. The event transforms the historic town centre near the Rhine into a festive fairground, with rides, sweet stalls and family activities.

Reeser Kirmes 2027 in the historic town centre

Reeser Kirmes is held in the heart of the town. Much of the funfair is on and around the market square, as well as along Dellstraße and at Delltor. This means you can stroll through the historic town centre between rides. Its proximity to the Rhine also gives the fair a special setting. The exact event schedule and any road closures for 2027 have not yet been published, so the familiar locations are provided as a guide.

Rides for children and thrill-seekers

For the 2026 edition, the town announced numerous attractions. These included the Super-Jumper Sound Wave, the high ride Extrem, with a ride sequence reaching up to 42 metres, and the multi-level funhouse Happy Family. The funfair also featured bumper cars, Musikexpress, Starbreaker, a children's swing ride and other family rides. This information applies only to the 2026 edition. No line-up of rides has been officially confirmed for September 2027. The rides from previous years are therefore not listed as current participants.

Reeser Kirmes 2027: start times and opening hours

For 2026, the town of Rees published the following opening times: Saturdays from 15, Sundays from 12:30, and Mondays and Tuesdays from 14. However, this official overview does not give complete closing times. No complete new schedule is available for 2027 yet. Opening hours for MEC therefore remain hidden for now, rather than showing made-up closing times. Opening hours have not yet been published. Once the town announces full times, they can be added for each day.

Family day and traditional funfair opening

The funfair usually opens with the mayor performing the ceremonial keg tapping. The 2026 edition also featured a happy hour on participating rides. Monday was family day that year, with showmen offering discounts of up to 50 per cent at some attractions. These activities have not yet been specifically confirmed for 2027. Families should therefore follow the town's announcements before planning a visit on Monday.

Fireworks over the Rhine to round things off

A special highlight of previous editions was the fireworks display over the Rhine on Tuesday evening. For 2026, it was announced as the finale at around 21. The view from the riverbank is one of the special experiences of this traditional funfair. The town still needs to announce whether there will be fireworks again on Tuesday, 28 September 2027, and which safety zones will apply. No confirmed fireworks time for 2027 has therefore been listed yet.

Important: the market stalls have moved

If you know Reeser Kirmes from previous years, you may associate it with the traditional Tuesday market stalls. That is no longer the case. From 2026, the town of Rees moved the market stalls to the Reeser Rheinfest in October. They are therefore no longer part of the regular September funfair finale. This helps you avoid an unnecessary visit on the wrong market day. You can find the latest information about both events on the town's website.

Admission and getting to Rees

The public funfair streets have traditionally been free to enter. Rides, games and food and drink cost extra. You can reach the town centre via Markt 1, 46459 Rees. However, the town regularly closes several roads for the event, including Dellstraße and the market square. For 2026, parts of a car park at the school centre were also needed. Traffic arrangements for September 2027 will be published again later.

You can find more funfairs in the funfair calendar. The official organiser's website publishes the latest information..
