The Carnavalskermis Olsene 2027 is scheduled to take place from Saturday, 1 May, to Tuesday, 4 May 2027. These four days are currently an unconfirmed calendar listing and are not yet an official decision for 2027. The name is also worth noting: the event calendar uses the spelling “Carnavalskemris”, while the municipality of Zulte explicitly lists the May funfair in Olsene as Meikermis. So this is the local funfair in May, not a carnival in February.

Funfair site at Willem van Olseneplein

The designated municipal funfair site is Willem van Olseneplein in Olsene, a district of the municipality of Zulte in East Flanders. Pitch spaces are allocated there to showmen for the May and September funfairs. This makes the site an established location rather than a random address. The funfair site is also small and easy to explore. Families can therefore easily combine a visit with a stroll around the village. How the rides will be arranged in May 2027 has not yet been published.

Rides and showmen

The municipal fee regulations distinguish between different types of pitches, such as bumper cars, children's carousels, shooting galleries, arcade stalls, fishing games and food stalls. This describes the possible attractions at this funfair site. However, fee regulations do not confirm that each attraction will actually be there from 1 to 4 May 2027. An official list of showmen for the new edition is not yet available. For this reason, no individual rides are listed as participants yet. This caution helps avoid confusion with the September funfair.

Willem van Olseneplein is a public square, so the Meikermis is traditionally free to visit. You pay directly at each stall for individual rides, games and food. Full official daily opening times for the 2027 edition are not yet available. Therefore, no invented opening times have been entered in the calendar. The exact event dates also still need to be confirmed by the municipality before you plan your visit for a particular day.

Family day out and village atmosphere

The Meikermis is primarily a local event where people from Olsene and the surrounding area come together. A short stroll, a children's ride or a local funfair treat are ideal for a relaxed afternoon. The attractions may also vary depending on the space available and the showmen who register. Bigger attractions, specific activities or music programmes are not promised here unless there is a current announcement. This keeps the listing reliable before the season begins.
