What to expect

The Gallimarkt Leer 2027 takes place from Wednesday, 13 October, to Sunday, 17 October 2027. The Association of Travelling Showmen of East Frisia has confirmed the five days of festivities. Große Bleiche and the adjacent streets in central Leer are transformed into a large fair. Traditionally, it features rides, festival tents, food and drink, the historic livestock market and numerous market stalls. Admission to the public fairground is free.

Gallimarkt Leer 2027: Five days at Große Bleiche

In addition, the Gallimarkt is East Frisia’s most important fair and has a long history. Its market rights date back to 1508, when trade and the livestock market were still the main focus. Today, the Gallimarkt combines modern showman attractions with historic traditions. The site around Große Bleiche, the Blinke area and Leer’s old town regularly attracts many visitors. The town also lists around 250 businesses in total and at least half a million expected visitors for the 2026 edition. These figures are indicative and are not a confirmed line-up of rides for 2027.

Rides, market stalls and regional specialities

The Gallimarkt also features a mix of children’s carousels, large rides, game and lottery stalls, and food stands. Festival tents and food and drink outlets also invite you to stay a while. Typical treats include sugared almonds, bratwurst and Berliner doughnuts. The historic atmosphere of the old town and harbour gives the fair a distinctive character. However, the individual rides from the 2026 edition are not confirmed for 2027. We are therefore waiting for an up-to-date list of showmen or reliable year-specific announcements before linking to profiles of specific attractions.

Gallimarkt Leer 2027: opening times

Complete official daily opening and closing times have not yet been published for the 2027 edition. Traditionally, the Gallimarkt opens on Wednesday morning at the Historic Town Hall. In previous years, the market has started during the day and continued into the night in many areas. Opening times may vary between individual market areas and festival tents. Until the event organisers confirm the full hours for 2027, we will not show an invented schedule. The final overview will be added before the fair.

Traditional livestock market, heralds and harbour festival

The historic Galliviehmarkt is also one of the fair’s special features. The livestock market traditionally starts very early on Wednesday, while the opening of the actual fair is celebrated near the town hall with the three Gallimarkt heralds. The harbour lantern parade, the showmen’s church service, fireworks and shopping opportunities are also traditional parts of the programme. However, specific dates for 2027 have not yet been confirmed for every event. Therefore, no individual times have been listed as current confirmed details.
