Herborn – Herborner Martinimarkt with funfair 2026
What to expect
Herborner Martinimarkt 2026 combines the traditional town-centre market on Sunday, 8., and Monday, 9 November, with a funfair that starts on Friday, 6 November. So if you want to enjoy the rides, it is worth visiting the fairground on Walkmühlenweg. The town of Herborn has announced a Ferris wheel, the tall swing ride “Big Ben Tower” and other attractions for families for the 2026 edition.
Herborner Martinimarkt 2026: Funfair and rides
According to the official announcement, the funfair opens as early as 6 November. Traditional funfair attractions for children and adults are also planned at the fairground on Walkmühlenweg. One of the most striking attractions is a Ferris wheel almost 40 metres high. There is also the Big Ben Tower swing ride, which is approximately 40 metres tall. The town also lists Music Express, Twister, Crazy Polyp, X Factor and bumper cars. Attractions announced for children include a children's sports carousel, a children's race track and a bungee trampoline. The operators of the individual attractions have not all been confirmed. Individual rides may charge a fare; no complete price list is available.
Market tradition in Herborn town centre
According to the town, the Martinimarkt that gives the event its name dates back to 1465. On 8 and 9 November, more than 100 market traders selling a variety of goods and offering food and drink bring the historic town centre to life. You can browse stalls selling everyday goods, decorative items and culinary specialities. The market starts at 10 on Sunday, and the stalls open from 8 on Monday. Local shops also open for additional trading hours from 12 on Sunday.
Fireworks at Herborner Martinimarkt 2026
One publicly announced highlight is the fireworks display on Sunday, 8 November, at around 19:30. The town notes that the fireworks are due to take place as darkness falls. So when planning your visit, allow for an approximate start time. Together, the funfair and market days make for a varied weekend, although not all parts of the programme are open on every day.
Travel and road closures
The town has also announced traffic restrictions and road closures in the town centre for the two market days. On Sunday, these include Westerwaldstraße and other streets in the town centre. If you are travelling by car, follow the signed diversion and use the official parking facilities. City bus services may also be affected. The funfair is at the fairground on Walkmühlenweg, while the market is spread across the town centre.
Practical information
It is important to distinguish between the two market days and the funfair, which starts earlier. The published information does not include confirmed daily closing times for the rides. Before your visit, check for the latest updates on the official event page of the town of Herborn.
