Osterkirmes Essen-Borbeck 2027 is expected to take place from 27.03.2027 to 04.04.2027. The Easter funfair in Schlosspark Borbeck is part of the traditional start to the funfair season in Essen. Showman families set up their rides and stalls among the green spaces around Schloss Borbeck. During the Easter holidays, families can stroll through the park, enjoy small and larger carousels and try typical funfair treats. For 2027, the event is scheduled to run from 27 March to 4 April; the IGS has so far published only the date 2026.

Essen-Borbeck Easter funfair 2027: Venue and history

The festival site is in Schlosspark Borbeck, near the castle on Schlossstraße 101. Unlike a large city-centre funfair, the focus here is on a family-friendly atmosphere and green surroundings. You can also combine your visit with a walk through the park. The organisers are Essen showman families who have run the market in the district for years. It is also worth checking the surrounding area so you can find the entrances and footpaths in good time.

Rides, games stalls and food

In previous years, there have been traditional heart-shaped rides, a mountain-and-valley ride, bumper cars, children’s carousels and classic stalls such as duck fishing and tin-can alley. There have also been bratwurst, fried fish, crêpes, popcorn and confectionery. Individual operators and rides from the 2026 edition are documented by the editorial team. Their return for 2027 has not yet been confirmed, however. For this reason, no past attractions are linked as a confirmed line-up of rides. Special Easter activities and family offers

A popular feature of previous Easter funfairs was the Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. It was organised around the beer garden in the palace park. At the 2026 edition, children could search for colourful eggs and special golden surprise eggs. However, there is no official confirmation yet of another Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027. This tradition is therefore described only and is not listed as a confirmed programme item. Once the programme for 2027 is available, the individual highlights, including their actual dates, can be added.

Easter funfair Essen-Borbeck 2027: Opening hours and daily planning

Opening hours are provisional, as of 2026. At the time, the funfair was normally open from 14 to 22. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the hours differed: 12 to 22. The same weekly schedule was also published for 2024 and 2025. The time slots for the provisional date 2027 have therefore been adjusted to match the actual Easter holidays. Changes by the organisers are possible. The period follows the Easter date 2027, but has not yet been officially confirmed by Interessengemeinschaft Essener Schausteller. Especially around the Easter holidays, check the organiser’s information again before setting off.

Admission and possible expenses

2026, general admission to the Easter funfair was free, according to press information. No new admission policy has yet been announced for 2027, so we cannot currently confirm that entry will be free. You pay the individual showmen for rides, games and food and drink. If you’re visiting with your family, you can plan a budget in advance for rides and food. You should also ask individual stalls about any family or discount offers.
