Darmstadt – Darmstädter Heinerfest 2027
What to expect
The Darmstädter Heinerfest 2027 takes place from Thursday, 1 July to Monday, 5 July 2027. For five days, the city centre around the Residenzschloss once again turns into a large city fair. You can look forward to traditional rides, food and drink, and numerous cultural events. The dates and general opening times are already listed in an event overview; the full programme for the 2027 edition will be published later.
Darmstädter Heinerfest 2027 around the palace
Heinerfest is an important part of summer in Darmstadt. Its roots go back to the period after the Second World War, when 1950 the idea for a new local festival emerged. Instead of being confined to a single funfair site, the programme is spread across squares and streets in the city centre. So, as you explore, you can discover different rides, food stalls, stages and special meeting places.
Rides, music and cultural programme
Previous editions featured showmen offering both major rides and children's carousels and traditional fairground games. There was also music, theatre, exhibitions and many other cultural events. This blend is what sets Heinerfest apart from a fairground devoted purely to rides. However, the exact showmen and performers for 2027 have not yet been finalised. We therefore do not list individual rides from previous years as confirmed participants. The concert photo used also explicitly shows a historical edition.
Darmstädter Heinerfest 2027: opening times
The event overview for 2027 distinguishes between opening Thursday, the two late evenings on Friday and Saturday, and the closing period on Sunday and Monday. These published daily times have been entered in the structured MEC schedule. However, the final announcement from the organisers may still bring changes or special opening times for individual areas. Stages and individual showmen may also have their own operating hours.
Admission and special programme highlights
Many of Heinerfest's public cultural events have previously been free to attend. Rides, food, drinks and some special events may incur charges. A large closing fireworks display was also part of the well-known Heinerfest programme in previous years. Whether there will be such a display in 2027, and when each programme item begins, has not yet been confirmed. We therefore do not list unverified performers, rides or fireworks times.
Getting there and information for your visit
Heinerfest is centrally located around Darmstadt's market square and the Residenzschloss. Trams and buses take you from many parts of the city to the centre. However, stops may be moved or roads closed during the event. So it's a good idea to check the latest special timetable. You can find more information on the official Heinerfest website. You can find more fairs in the funfair calendar.
