What to expect
Michaeliskirmes 2027 takes place from Friday, 24 September to Monday, 27 September 2027. The organiser has already explicitly published these dates on its events page. For four days, Brilon town centre is transformed into a large funfair. The traditional market stalls and a varied programme of events add to the occasion. Which rides 2027 will be there has yet to be announced.
Michaeliskirmes 2027 in the heart of Brilon
Brilon’s Michaeliskirmes is one of the best-known town-centre funfairs in the Hochsauerland district. Its fairground stretches around the historic market square and along the neighbouring streets. Rides, food and drink, and traders’ stalls create a varied route through the town centre. On its official website, the town calls it the largest and oldest town-centre funfair in the HSK. A visit is therefore suited to families as well as fans of fast rides.
Rides and funfair favourites
The official website listed various rides for the 2026 edition. These included Columbia Rad III, Breakdance, Big Wave, bumper cars and a ghost train called Ghost. These examples show the usual range at Michaeliskirmes. However, they should not automatically be taken as confirmed for the next edition. A new official line-up of rides 2027 has not yet been published. Once current participation confirmations are available, the relevant attraction profiles can be added.
Michaeliskirmes 2027: Opening times
Daily opening times for 2027 have not yet been published individually. The MEC calendar therefore uses the official time slots for 2026: Fridays from 16 to 3, Saturdays from 14 to 3, Sundays from 13 until midnight, and Mondays from 9 to 23. Opening times are provisional, as of 2026. However, the event dates for 2027 have already been officially announced. Any changes to opening times will be added with the next official announcement.
Market stalls and Craftspeople’s Day
A special feature of Michaeliskirmes is its traditional market stalls. Traders display a range of goods and new products for the home and everyday life. For the 2026 edition, the main market stalls were concentrated on Monday in the area of Derkere Mauer, Kirchenstraße and Schulstraße. Craftspeople’s Day was also part of the programme. It remains to be confirmed whether these activities will take place in the same form on Monday, 27 September 2027.
Children’s activities, fireworks and music
At the opening 2026, children were welcomed in front of the town hall. There were also free rides for children for a limited time and a fireworks display on Friday evening. On the other days, the programme included a visitors’ day, a family and shopping Sunday, and music in the festival tents. These activities describe the previous edition. There is no confirmed detailed announcement yet for 24 to 27 September 2027. Therefore, no specific 2027 programme times have been entered.
Admission, travel and parking
Access to the public funfair streets has been free under the usual arrangements. Rides, drinks and food are paid for separately. For getting there, Brilon town provides parking and special buses from surrounding districts. Vehicle access to the funfair streets is restricted at certain times during the event. So check current bus timetables and road information before setting off. The cover image shows a genuine older photo of Michaeliskirmes and is marked as an archive image.
