Halloweenkermis Blankenberge 2026 is offering an afternoon with fewer sensory stimuli for the first time this year. On Thursday, 5 November 2026, things are set to be much quieter on the Grote Markt between 14:00 and 17:00 o'clock. The town of Blankenberge announced the initiative on 26 October. This autumn funfair is therefore explicitly aimed at people who might otherwise find loud music and intense lighting effects make a visit difficult.
During the three hours, the town is asking showmen to turn down the music or switch it off entirely. Bright lighting, flashing effects and other intense stimuli should also be reduced as much as possible. You can still stroll around the fairground and explore the funfair, but under different conditions. The town describes the initiative as a first attempt to make the funfair experience more accessible.
The exact wording is important: this is a low-stimulation afternoon, not a promise of complete silence. The town's announcement does not specify in detail which individual businesses will switch off their music or how much the lighting will change. So you should not expect an entirely noise-free environment.
An ordinary funfair thrives on sounds, movement and colourful lights. However, this combination can be tiring for some children and adults. Blankenberge hopes the quieter period will enable more people to take part. It could, for example, be of interest to families who prefer to avoid the crowds and the strongest effects. The best way to judge whether the afternoon suits your individual needs is to see for yourself.
Halloweenkermis runs from 31 October to 8 November 2026 at Grote Markt in Blankenberge. The low-stimulation afternoon is scheduled for Thursday, 5 November, from 14:00 to 17:00 o'clock. These three hours are a special time slot and should not be confused with the general daily opening hours. The town has not yet published a full list of daily opening hours on its events page.
For your visit, the official announcement mentions bumper cars, duck fishing and Oliebollen, among other things. For more information about the location, dates and accompanying Halloween programme, see our event listing for Halloweenkermis Blankenberge. It provides a clear summary of the confirmed programme items.
After the event, the town plans to collect feedback from visitors and showmen. It will then consider whether low-stimulation periods like this could also be offered at future funfairs. This means that there is no decision yet to make it a regular feature. Nevertheless, the announcement is a concrete step towards making the fair more enjoyable for different groups of visitors.
So if you're planning to visit during the quieter period, make a note of Thursday, 5 November, and the time slot from 14:00 to 17:00 o'clock. The official announcement from the town of Blankenberge contains the confirmed details. You can also find more dates in our funfair calendar.
