A ride on the Power Express Welte
As you board, guests spread out among the cars, which roll in a circle over a track that rises and falls. The forces in the bends keep changing during the ride. You can feel the gondola pushing outwards, especially on the track's undulations, before it heads into the next dip. That's what makes this type of ride appealing: not great heights, but rhythm, speed and changing movements.
The Power Express has a tunnel and a striking front. If you visit in the evening, it’s worth taking a look at the lighting: according to the operator, around 8.500 LEDs are installed. There’s also a powerful sound system. The showman describes the ride as family-friendly but fast-paced. Check the ticket booth and safety notices directly for the conditions applying to children, as no confirmed minimum height is publicly documented.

History of Power Express Welte
The ride was built by Mack in 1974. At the time, it was called “Hit In”. The official operator history states that Karl Welte commissioned its construction. Friedrich Welte was responsible for the travelling operation until 1998. In 1999, Timm Welte took over and gave the ride its current name. At the same time, the front was redesigned and a tunnel was added. Its current design therefore combines a historic core with a modernised façade.
One distinctive feature is its hexagonal design. According to the showman, the ride is transported on three trailers, one of which serves as the central unit. The operator says it takes about ten hours to set up and four hours to dismantle. These details show how much logistics go into what may seem like a straightforward roundabout ride. The operation is also known as Timm Welte + Sohn.

Who is this waltzer suitable for?
If you’re looking for a traditional music express at a funfair, this ride is particularly interesting. Unlike a large thrill ride with inversions, its appeal lies not in loops but in repeated sideways acceleration, waves and music. It can be a good ride for families with older children to enjoy together, provided they meet the ride requirements displayed on site. If you’re sensitive to spinning movements, watch the ride from the outside first.
My tip for your visit: see the ride once in daylight and once in the evening. The LED effects are especially striking after dark. Also check the current opening times and prices directly at the site. Public records about the year it was built or its capacity do not guarantee that it will be at a particular fair.
