1001 night – Hartmann
Classic flying carpet from 1983
Operator: Hartmann & Söhne (Schwerte)
1001 Nacht Hartmann 1001 Nacht by Hartmann is a classic flying carpet ride. The ride experience is very different from that of a modern propeller ride or roller coaster. Instead of constantly changing rotations, the passenger platform swings in a wide arc. This gives you a different view of the fairground each time. The ride is especially atmospheric after dark, when the surrounding attractions are lit up.

Photos, dates and sources
When searching for videos and archive images, it is important to identify the operator: several flying carpet rides have similar names. A photo of a different ride would therefore not be a suitable illustration. Before your visit, check the current line-up of rides at the event. You can find more timeless profiles in the attractions directory. Information about the manufacturer, previous operators and technology can be checked at Ride-Index.

Documented previous operators include Oscar Bruch junior from Düsseldorf, Heinrich Koidl from Vienna, Finnendahl from Bremen and Rolf Schmidt from Stuttgart. In 2005, the ride was temporarily put into storage. Such changes explain why older photos may appear under another name or with a different design.

Tips for your visit
If you are interested in classic funfair technology, it is worth watching the ride from the side first. This gives you a particularly good view of the platform's movement. The view is an important part of the experience, but this is still an intense high-altitude ride. Check the current notices about height, age and health restrictions at the ride itself.
