Highlights & records

A fully themed construction site with large figures, lighting, sound and fog effects; a lift to the station; sensor-monitored safety gates.

Die verrückte Baustelle turns a compact roller coaster ride into a little discovery tour through a lovingly designed construction site.

Die verrückte Baustelle: fun on the construction site course

The theme is unmistakable as soon as you enter the ride. The decorations draw on construction site motifs: large figures, decorated barriers and matching effects create a little world of its own around the track. Lighting and sounds are also part of the concept. The ride therefore feels less like a neutral circuit and more like a tour through a busy construction site.

The roller coaster runs along an elongated oval. The cars repeatedly follow the bends and straight sections without turning you upside down. The appeal comes from the movement, the changes of direction and the interplay with the themed surroundings. Compared with large travelling steel roller coasters, Luxem's ride deliberately focuses on a family-friendly pace and a route that is easy for children to follow.

The Wacky Construction Site: History and Technology

The ride premiered on 14 July 2023 at Ulmer Volksfest. SBF Visa built it as an Air Family Coaster. The manufacturer is known for compact roller coaster systems; this model features an oval track and a powered ascent. It also has four cars, each with four seats, giving it a total capacity of 16 passengers per train.

Showman Tanja Luxem from Euskirchen focused on creating a fully themed construction site. The setting includes LED lighting, fog effects, seating nearby and extensive scenery. For touring, the ride can be transported using a dedicated transport unit. Die verrückte Baustelle combines modern family roller coaster technology with the traditional travelling fair.

Who is the family roller coaster suitable for?

Die verrückte Baustelle is especially appealing to families who want to share a first roller coaster experience. The operator specifically advertises it as child-friendly and lists children as young as two as its target audience. The requirements for a companion, height and other conditions on your visit are posted at the ticket office and entrance; staff there decide whether you can ride safely.

A special feature is the access to the station area: according to the operator, there is an access ramp designed to make it easier for people using wheelchairs to enter. Safety gates and fences are equipped with sensors that respond if anyone enters the ride area while it is in operation. According to the operator, the ride is operated in accordance with standard DIN EN 13814. You can find more family-friendly rides in our overview of funfair rides.
