Highlights & records

British Tivoli Orbiter by 1989, operated as Remix after its Belgian takeover in 2022; 18 gondolas and 36 places according to specialist records.

Fast spinning movements on a historic Orbiter ride.

Special features and design

Specialist records give this Tivoli Orbiter a diameter of around 18 metres and 18 gondolas with a total of 36 places. These figures refer to this specific historically documented ride and not to every Orbiter made by the manufacturer. The structure of this ride is relatively compact, while its overlapping rotations create a striking sequence of movements. Lighting and music contribute to the typical fairground atmosphere; the ride's current features may change over the years.

What it's like to ride Remix Stappers De Clercq

You take a seat in one of the small gondolas and then experience the arms circling around the centre. At the same time, the gondolas spin and respond to the movement of the entire structure. This means you can see the fairground from a variety of angles during a single ride. The ride feels dynamic without needing great height or a long track. The overlapping movements are what make the Orbiter concept appealing.

How strongly the ride affects you depends on the ride programme and your personal sensitivity to spinning movements. The experience can be strenuous for people who get dizzy easily. No reliable current information is available on the specific ride's top speed, ride duration or minimum height. So check the information provided by the showmen on site.

The history of Remix Stappers De Clercq

The documented ride was built in 1989 and initially travelled around the UK under the name Orbiter. Specialist records list John Wall, later John Wall Junior, Dean Stirling, and Graham Stokes and Liam Edwards as previous operators. The ride did not arrive in Belgium until 2022, when it was given its current name, Remix. Stephanie Stappers and Gilles De Clercq are listed as its Belgian operators. Its Belgian debut is documented at the September fair in Aalter 2022.

This background is important for identifying the ride: there are several rides at European fairs called Remix, Orbiter or Techno Power. There are also other, technically different rides associated with the Stappers showmen. So the name alone is never enough to identify photos, videos or appearances by a particular ride.

Timeline

Built as Orbiter in the UK in 1989. Belgian debut at the September fair in Aalter in September 2022; since then operated as Remix by Stephanie Stappers and Gilles De Clercq. Do not confuse it with Techno Power by Steve Stappers.

Who is the ride suitable for?

If you prefer classic spinning rides with pronounced rotation, Remix is an exciting alternative to Break Dance and other funfair classics. The ride is particularly appealing to people who enjoy rapid changes of direction. If you are looking for gentle family rides, watch how the gondolas move throughout a full ride first. Also check the current safety rules and entry requirements directly at the ride. You can find more rides in our attraction guide.
