Pharaos Rache – Nitzsche is a travelling glass maze that welcomes visitors with an Egyptian-inspired façade and a winding route through mirrors and glass panels. The walk-through attraction combines the search for the right exit with surprising reflections and a classic fairground atmosphere. Unlike on a roller coaster, you set your own pace: finding your way through the maze is the main part of the visit.

Highlights & records

Egyptian-style façade, glass maze with distorting mirrors and the character of a traditional travelling attraction.

Among mirrors and glass walls, finding the right way becomes an experience – a classic maze with a distinctive pharaoh façade.

Pharaos Rache – Nitzsche: The glass maze experience

Once inside, you move through a world where glass walls and mirrors can look very similar. This is what creates the typical moments of a maze: a passage that seems clear turns out to be an obstacle, while the right way through may only become apparent on a second look. The façade, with its distinctive pharaoh lettering, also gives the walk-through attraction its special atmosphere and makes it recognisable from the outside.

Part of the appeal is that visitors have to find their own way. You can solve the route puzzles with friends or family and experience the maze at your own pace. The fun comes from finding your way, surprises and the many little detours, not from speed or great heights. Visitors must, of course, follow the route and instructions given by staff.

Pharaos Rache – Nitzsche: History and showmen

The glass maze dates from 1977 and was built by the French manufacturer Reverchon. Its travelling history can be traced through several showman families. From 1977 to 1982, the attraction belonged to Lorgie in Berlin, followed by H. Vespermann and, from 1988 to 2016, Bernd Vespermann from Neumünster. Since 2017, it has been associated with the Berlin showman business Nitzsche. This means that today's Pharaos Rache is the same physical attraction seen in older fairground photographs under its previous operators.

In addition, the documented attraction is approximately 13,5 metres wide and 6,9 metres deep. This compact design makes its distinctive route possible on a mobile fairground. Historical photos, such as those from the fair in Hopsten 2014, already show the familiar façade during its time with Vespermann. This makes it possible to trace the attraction's history over several decades.

Who is Pharaos Rache suitable for?

Pharaos Rache is suitable for people who enjoy walking through a walk-through attraction rather than sitting in a vehicle. The combination of puzzles and exploring together is especially appealing: when you reach a reflective surface, you have to look carefully to find the right way. For children and families, this offers a different funfair experience from a ride on the carousel. For young children, supervision and the access rules displayed on site are essential.

Funfair fans interested in classic glass mazes will also find a traditional attraction here. You can find more historic and modern walk-through attractions in our overview of attractions.
