Night Fly – Boers
The KMG Scheibenwischer with a Tropical Trip past
Operator: Boy Boers (Niederlande) · since 2025
Night Fly – Boers is a travelling circular ride with a sideways-swinging platform and a history dating back to the 1990s. The ride was made by the Dutch manufacturer KMG and is what is known as a Scheibenwischer. Under its former name, Tropical Trip, it travelled around German fairgrounds for many years. Today, Dutch showman Boy Boers presents the ride as Night Fly.

Highlights & records
Historic KMG Top Scan, formerly Tropical Trip; not the same as the Mondial Inferno Nightfly (Kaiser/Rosai).
Tropical Trip became Night Fly: Boy Boers' compact swing ride combines the charm of a 1990s classic with a new name.
This is what a ride on Night Fly – Boers is like
On Night Fly, passengers sit together in an elongated gondola. Unlike on an ordinary roundabout, it travels along a swinging track: the platform tilts alternately to the left and right, repeatedly carrying you back and forth between the two highest points. The alternating ascent, change of direction and renewed acceleration are what define the ride.
Because the movement is easy for spectators to follow, you can also watch the ride from the outside. The row of passengers stays together as a unit. The ride is therefore neither a roller coaster nor a free-fall tower, but a standalone KMG Top Spin. Especially after dark, the illuminated front and moving gondola shape the atmosphere on the fairground.

History of Night Fly – Boers
The ride was built in 1994 and was known as Tropical Trip for a long time. During its eventful history, it has been listed under showmen including Sonnier from Rehlingen, Wolfgang Jehn from Eisenach and Lucas Glesmann from Bad Bramstedt. In the early 2020s, the ride was temporarily put into storage and refurbished for later use. Boy Boers has been documented as the operator since 2025. The new name Night Fly therefore marks another chapter in the history of the same physical ride.
It is important to distinguish it from another ride called Nightfly: the former Mondial Inferno owned by Kaiser or Rosai is a completely different design. The KMG ride operated by Boers is the former Tropical Trip and must not be confused with the larger Inferno.

Who is the swing ride suitable for?
If you like compact rides with a clearly noticeable swinging motion, Night Fly is an interesting alternative to large propellers or pendulum rides. The changes of direction from side to side are the main feature, not loops or free falls. If you want to ride, check the height and safety requirements displayed at the entrance. For families with younger children, the operator’s actual admission rules are what matter.
At fairgrounds, Night Fly is an example of how an older ride can continue to operate under new owners and with a new design. In the ride overview, you can compare Night Fly with larger swing and round rides.
