Mambo Dance – Marco Sonnier
A lively waltzer ride with 20 seats
Operator: Marco Sonnier (Badem) · since 2014
Mambo Dance Sonnier brings the characteristic momentum of a wiper-style ride to the fairground. Marco Sonnier’s ride from Badem does not offer a large circular ride, but a distinctive back-and-forth motion. If you enjoy swinging and want to experience a little more dynamism, you’ll find a ride style all of its own here. You can get a good view of this compact ride from the outside.

This is what it's like to ride Mambo Dance
The basic principle of a giant pendulum ride is easy to understand: the row of seats moves back and forth along a swinging track. Your view and sense of movement keep changing as you go. When the gondola changes direction, you feel the shift between swinging and briefly slowing down particularly clearly. This recurring rhythm is what makes the ride appealing. Unlike on Break Dance, the focus is not on individual gondolas rotating freely.
With its twenty seats, Mambo Dance is a relatively compact ride. You sit close to the action and can experience the movement of the entire row of passengers at first hand. The ride is easy for spectators to follow too: they can see the row swinging back and forth along its track and watch the passengers’ mood change with each change of direction.

History and operator
The ride was made by the Czech manufacturer Colmax-Plus. Before travelling under Marco Sonnier, it belonged to the Dutch showman business Velthuis-Mulder until 2013. This change of operator is part of the documented history of this particular ride and distinguishes it from other Scheibenwischer rides. Marco Sonnier is known as an operator from Badem; under his management, the ride is presented at fairs.
The movement between countries and showmen’s businesses is typical of the world of travelling attractions. The basic technical concept and characteristic motion remain the same, while the appearance and presentation at the fairground can be developed further. Who is the ride suitable for?
Mambo Dance is particularly interesting if you like rides with plenty of movement but aren’t necessarily looking for a huge high-rise attraction. The ride is all about momentum and the feeling that you could change direction again at any moment. When visiting with friends, it can be an entertaining change from bumper cars, Musik Express or a Ferris wheel. The specific age and height requirements are announced at the ride and should be checked before you board.
