Jump Street Welte: Jump Street, operated by Mandy and Marco Welte, is a so-called wiper ride. A long row of seats swings up and down in a repeated motion. This creates a different ride experience from a roller coaster: you sit side by side and share the sensation of the swing with the other passengers.

Jump Street Welte: ride experience

On Jump Street, the mechanism guides the row of seats through a large, arc-shaped movement. As the gondola rises, your view of the fairground changes. As it descends again, there is a brief moment of weightlessness before the next movement begins. The ride needs no track and can therefore be set up relatively compactly despite its impressive ride experience. The combination of movement, music and lighting is part of the character of this KMG ride type. From the outside, you can easily follow how it works because the entire row of seats remains visible.

History of Jump Street Welte

According to Ride-Index, the ride was built by the Dutch manufacturer KMG in 1993. Previous operators listed include Deinert, Gusowski, Quante, Meijers/Visser and Lengner. Since 2017, it has travelled with the Welte family. The manufacturer calls this ride type Tropical Trip; at fairs, it is also commonly known as a wiper ride. Ride-Index documents a width of 18,5 metres, a depth of 4,5 metres, a height of around 8,5 metres and a connected load of 50 kilowatts. Up to 18 people can sit in the row at the same time. This is the number of seats per ride, not a reliable figure for passengers carried per hour.

Who is Jump Street Welte suitable for?

If you enjoy lively movements but would rather not go upside down, Jump Street is an interesting choice. The ummet-eck funfair database lists a minimum height of 1,40 metres for this ride; however, the signs at the venue always take precedence. Pay attention to the announcements as you board and make sure the restraint closes properly. The lighting is particularly impressive after dark. Don't confuse this ride with the similarly named Jump Street operated by Klaasen, which is also a wiper ride. That's why the operator and construction history are essential parts of the ride profile.
