Hip Hop Jumper – Alex Stummer
A swayer classic with a surprising rhythm of movement
Operator: Alex Stummer (Bruchhausen-Vilsen)
Alex Stummer's Hip Hop Jumper is a swayer that combines the classic circular ride with unusually lively movement. Built by the German manufacturer Höpler, it is a Schunkler 3 type of ride. Its touring history spans several showman families; under an earlier name, many funfair visitors already knew it as Bayern-Schunkler.

The Hip Hop Jumper combines circular motion with a swaying movement, offering an experience all its own, beyond modern looping rides.
This is how you experience the Hip Hop Jumper
Unlike on an ordinary swing carousel, the Hip Hop Jumper is not about long flights through the air. The ride experience comes from the combination of circular movement and its characteristic swaying. The forces on your body noticeably change as you ride. In some sections, the movement feels forceful; in others, surprisingly light.
Operator Alex Stummer recently told a regional newspaper that the appeal of his ride lies in the change between circling and a feeling of weightlessness. This suits the distinctive character of this type of ride: instead of following the same circular path throughout, it creates a lively rhythm that actively draws in the riders. Music and riding together are part of the experience at the fairground.
Its appearance also sets this swaying ride apart from the tall towers and overhead pendulum rides at modern fairs. The ride looks compact, but only comes into its own when operating. From outside, you can clearly see how the movements follow one another and why many riders laugh or react loudly during the ride.
From Bayern-Schunkler to Stummer's ride
The ride's history can be traced through various operators. Before Stummer, it was run by Dierda, Bairle and Bausch, among others. They were followed by Brumbach, the Greier family and Patrick Greier. Until 2011, the ride was known as Bayern-Schunkler or Schunkler. It later took on the name Hip Hop Jumper, giving this familiar ride type a new presentation.
2018, the Stader Tageblatt reported on Alex Stummer and his first appearance with the Hip Hop Jumper in the town. The ride is therefore not only a technical classic, but also part of the recent touring history of an independent showman business. Its appeal lies precisely in the fact that an older ride concept continues to find an audience at today's fairs.

Who is the Hip Hop Jumper suitable for?
The Hip Hop Jumper is especially interesting if you enjoy classic round rides but are looking for livelier movement. It combines the sociable character of a funfair ride with a dynamic experience that is about more than just speed. If you've never ridden a Schunkler before, this ride is a great opportunity to discover this traditional type of ride.
If repeated spinning makes you feel unwell, it's worth watching a full ride first. The specific riding requirements are posted at the ride. You can find more classic and modern rides in our attractions overview.
