How the Discooter by Bourquin LunaPark rides

You get into one of the cars and steer it yourself around the ride area. That's what makes bumper cars so appealing: you decide whether to dodge others, give them a deliberate nudge or simply go round with your friends. Discooter also has a drift function. According to the organisers, it adds extra dynamism in the bends, making the ride feel sportier than a classic bumper car ride.

Music, lights and the familiar bustle on the ride area are all part of the experience, of course. That's why Discooter is fun to watch too.

The Discooter by Bourquin LunaPark: operator and history

Discooter is operated by Bourquin LunaPark, a showman company from Switzerland. At Basel Autumn Fair 2026, the bumper cars were on the Rosentalanlage, the oldest fairground in Kleinbasel. Alongside the new Hexenflieger and the classic Enterprise, they added to the attractions for young people and families.

Bumper cars have been a fixture at every funfair for around a century. Discooter shows how modern vehicle technology can bring a new twist to this classic. Who is Discooter suitable for?

Bumper cars are great all-rounders. Teenagers love competing on the ride area, while families can ride round together. Check at the ticket office the minimum height for children to ride alone and when they need an accompanying adult. Keep your hands and arms inside the car during the ride, and only get out when it has finished. For photos, find a spot at the edge of the ride area, where you can see the whole ride.
