What it's like to ride Autoscooter Sonnaert

In bumper cars, you take the wheel yourself. You steer your car across the smooth floor, put your foot down and dodge other cars – or not. Little bumps are part of the fun, so the cars are protected all around by a thick rubber bumper. Each car has room for two, so you can ride together.

Music and light effects also create the classic bumper car atmosphere. In the evening especially, the ride floor becomes a meeting place at the fairground.

History of Autoscooter Sonnaert

Adesko delivered the ride to Belgian showman Depaemelaere in September 2004. It remained in operation there until May 2012. Xavier Sonnaert then took over the bumper cars and has travelled with them to Belgian funfairs ever since, including in Liège and Bruges.

Who is the bumper cars ride suitable for?

Bumper cars are a classic ride for almost all age groups. Children can usually steer themselves from a certain height, while younger children ride with an adult. The rules are displayed at the ticket booth. Take it slowly at first and get used to the steering before you put your foot down. You should avoid head-on collisions, though, as they are usually expressly prohibited.
