Operator: Timo Hartmann (Dortmund) · since 2025
The Break Dance Hartmann operated by Timo Hartmann from Dortmund is a travelling Huss Break Dance 1, where a large rotating disc, rotating gondola crosses and freely swinging gondolas work together. The combination of several movements makes this classic a ride that offers surprisingly varied journeys despite its traditional concept. The music and colourful design enhance the typical fairground atmosphere.

What it's like to ride Break Dance Hartmann
You get into one of the gondolas, which seat two people, while the platform initially appears calm. As soon as the disc and the crosses arranged on it start moving, your direction of view keeps changing. Because the gondolas also swing around their own axis, each round feels different. At times you sweep in a wide arc across the disc, followed by a short, forceful change of direction. The movement doesn't come from inversions, but from the combination of the rotations.
Break Dance Hartmann is therefore one of those rides where the rhythm of the journey is a big part of the appeal. From the outside, you can clearly see how the gondolas swing in different ways on the various crosses. After dark in particular, the combination of music, lights and moving gondolas is a familiar sight at the fairground.

History of the Huss ride from Dortmund
The specific ride was built in 1985 by the Bremen-based company Huss. It belongs to the first generation of Break Dance 1 rides and is documented as ride number 8. The ride initially travelled under Rühl from Solingen. Michael Schneider from Dortmund later took over the ride, and Randolf Schneider operated the Break Dancer after him. Timo Hartmann has been listed as the operator since 2025.
Today's Break Dance Hartmann is therefore not a new ride, but a classic that has travelled under several operators. This history sets it apart from other Break Dance rides, which may look similar and work on the same principle but have their own stories. The specific ride's origins remain an important distinguishing feature even after changes of name and operator.

Who is Break Dance Hartmann suitable for?
If you enjoy fast spinning movements but don't want a ride with full inversions, this Break Dancer is an interesting choice. The intensity also depends on how the gondola is positioned during each ride cycle. If you are sensitive to spinning, bear this in mind when deciding. You can find out about the official access rules and ride prices at the ticket booth.
It's also worth watching: the open structure makes the movements easy to follow, and you can watch the ride from several sides. Find more travelling classics in our attractions overview.
