Body Shake by Toon Bakker is a Dutch swing ride that combines the movements of a long bench with rapid changes of direction. Guests sit side by side and experience the bench moving up and down as well as from side to side. This creates a different rhythm from a carousel with individual gondolas. The attraction is especially popular with teenagers who enjoy strong but manageable movements.

The Dutch term “Wip” describes this distinctive type of ride. Body Shake is one of the travelling rides that provide a compact alternative to large tower and looping rides at small and medium-sized funfairs. The striking shared row of seats makes it clear from the outside what to expect.

Highlights & records

Shared bench with 18 seats; the swing ride moves its passengers together up and down and from side to side.

Body Shake is all about shared momentum: everyone sits in a row and feels the same rapid changes in movement.

Body Shake: What the ride feels like

On Body Shake, you sit on a shared bench while the whole row of seats changes its movement. What makes it special is the combination of rising, lowering and swinging from side to side. Unlike on bumper cars, you do not steer it yourself; the machine sets the pace. The excitement comes from the moment the movement changes direction.

Everyone on board also experiences the same basic movement at the same time. If you ride with friends, you can see their reactions right beside you. This closeness is what defines the ride: the experience is shared and direct, without the need for a long track or a tall tower structure.

History and operator of the Dutch swing ride

Body Shake was previously operated by De Voer. The ride later passed to the Bakker showman family. The Dutch industry directory Kermisplanner lists it as a travelling swing ride with a shared passenger bench. This helps distinguish this particular ride from other swing rides with similar movements.

The organisers of the funfair in Velden explicitly named Toon Bakker as the operator for Body Shake's appearance from 29 May to 2 June 2026. This is a current, location-specific source confirming the name behind the ride. The traditional swing ride design remains its defining feature: a compact attraction whose ride experience comes entirely from the movement of its shared row of seats.

Who is Body Shake suitable for?

The swing ride is mainly for visitors who enjoy rapid changes between upward and downward movement. If you prefer a gentle circular ride, a classic children's or family carousel offers a gentler introduction. But if you enjoy the moment when the bench unexpectedly changes direction, this ride is for you.

The access rules displayed at the ride apply even if you already know it from a previous visit. You can find more funfair rides and what makes them special in our overview.
