Bee Bop Drive – Mantau
Classic bumper cars with New York cars
Operator: Mathias Mantau / Robrahn-van der Veen Autoscooter KG (Oldenburg)
Bee Bop Drive Mantau is a travelling bumper car ride with a covered track and Bertazzon's distinctive “New York” cars. The ride is associated with showman Mathias Mantau or Robrahn-van der Veen Autoscooter KG. Its base is made by Cosmont, and the ride was built in 2004. This makes this scooter a specific ride that has travelled for many years—not just any bumper car ride with a similar name.

Highlights & records
Two-pillar Cosmont bumper car ride with Bertazzon “New York” model cars.
On Bee Bop Drive, you decide how to steer across the track—the distinctive New York cars are part of its identity.
The ride experience on Bee Bop Drive Mantau
On this bumper car ride, you steer your vehicle yourself around the shared track. That makes every lap different: sometimes you dodge other cars, sometimes you take a clear path, and sometimes it ends in a typical gentle collision. The fun comes from the interaction between the riders. Unlike a carousel with a fixed circuit, on Bee Bop Drive you choose your own direction within the designated area.
One distinctive detail is the cars used. Ride-Index lists the “New York” model by Italian manufacturer Bertazzon for this ride. The vehicles are therefore part of this scooter's recognisable identity, while the ride itself is listed as a two-pillar Cosmont scooter. The combination of the track, the power supply through the typical scooter construction and individually steerable vehicles creates the familiar appeal of a classic bumper car ride.

History of Bee Bop Drive Mantau
According to Ride-Index, the scooter made its debut at Domweih in Verden in 2004. Ahrend from Hannover is named as its former operator. Older records therefore still list the ride under that name. It later became part of the Mantau showman's business; current ride lists name Mantau as the operator. Sources also spell the name “Bee Bob Drive”. In this context, both spellings refer to the same two-pillar scooter.
In its more recent travelling history, Bee Bop Drive has been a regular fixture at fairs in northern Germany. For 2026, appearances at Wolfsburger Schützenfest, Ibbenbürener Großkirmes and Oldenburger Kramermarkt are documented, for example. Bremer Osterwiese is also among its known stops. A ride video recorded there in March 2026 shows the ride in operation and gives a good impression of the track and the cars.

Who is Bee Bop Drive for?
This scooter is especially appealing if you prefer steering your own ride rather than following a fixed programme of movement. The focus is not on height, but on interacting with others on the track. If you are visiting with friends, dodging and encountering other cars creates new situations again and again. You can find the rules for drivers and any accompanying persons at the entrance to the ride.
