Rekem – Ascension Day funfair 2027

The Hemelvaartkermis Rekem 2027 is expected to take place from Thursday, 6 May, to Sunday, 9 May 2027. The four days follow the familiar Ascension weekend; official confirmation specifically for 2027 is still pending. The funfair is held in the historic district of Oud-Rekem in the Belgian municipality of Lanaken, not in the centre of Lanaken.

The stated section runs from the Groenstraat/Boomgaardstraat junction to the Sint-Pieter area. This distinguishes the fair from the August funfair on other streets in Rekem. However, the layout may be adjusted from year to year. The final site allocation for May 2027 therefore still needs to be confirmed. The district is part of Belgian Limburg, in the municipality of Lanaken.

Funfair fun and showmen

As part of the village funfair, showmen can set up rides, game stalls and food and drink stands. The Ascension Day weekend also makes the village an appealing destination for families and visitors from the region. Getting to Oud-Rekem

Rekem lies north of the centre of Lanaken in the Maas region. You can reach the village by regional bus and continue on foot to youth centre De Brik or Sint-Pieter Street. For the 2026 edition, the municipality decided on temporary parking and through-traffic bans in the village centre. A new decision will have to clarify whether, when and to what extent road closures will apply again for 2027. So you should not rely on last year's traffic restrictions.
