Lünen – Lünsche Mess 2027
What to expect
Lünsche Mess 2027: Expected to run from Thursday, 9 September, to Sunday, 12 September 2027, Lünen will once again celebrate Lünsche Mess. The city describes the festival as a four-day event ending on the second Sunday in September. The dates given are based on this official annual rule. Separate confirmation of the new programme 2027 from the organiser is still pending. Lünsche Mess combines a funfair with music, market stalls and plenty of activities in the town centre.
Lünsche Mess 2027: festival site and atmosphere
The event is spread across several squares and streets in Lünen town centre. The city lists Theaterparkplatz and Pfarrer-Bremer-Parkplatz as important funfair areas. The pedestrian zone, Tobiaspark and Willy-Brandt-Platz are also part of the festival area. This means you can stroll from one programme area to the next. The stages are not necessarily in the same place as the rides. Pfarrer-Bremer-Straße is a useful landmark.
Rides and showmen
Lünsche Mess traditionally includes its own funfair area with a range of rides and activities for children. The city announced fast carousels, classic funfair stalls and family-friendly activities for the 2026 edition. The individual showmen 2027 taking part have not yet been announced. We therefore do not list the names of rides from previous years or give an estimated number as a confirmed line-up of rides. The funfair is part of the much larger town festival.
Food and family activities
Alongside the carousels, you can expect a wide range of food and drink. The city describes numerous food and drink venues, beer gardens and stalls in the pedestrian zone. There are also cultural events and music stages to provide variety. After visiting the funfair, you can take a stroll through the town centre or watch a performance. Local clubs also regularly contribute to the programme.
Lünsche Mess 2027: dates and opening times
The period from 9 to 12 September 2027 has been calculated according to the official annual rule. A full organiser's schedule with daily start and end times for the funfair in 2027 is not available. Closing times for all the funfair areas in 2026 have also not been fully confirmed. A detailed opening-times schedule is therefore not currently shown. Times for individual stages or markets are not necessarily the operating hours of the rides.
Tradition and special highlights
Lünsche Mess traditionally opens on Thursday at 18 with a ceremonial keg tapping. At the 2026 edition, discounted ride prices were offered on Friday as part of a family day. The programme also included the duck race on the Lippe and several flea markets. These activities describe past traditions and have not yet been individually confirmed for 2027. The calendar therefore does not yet show any confirmed programme times.
