Jambes – Festivités Jamboises 2027
What to expect
Festivités Jamboises 2027: dates and history of the festival
The Festivités Jamboises 2027 are provisionally listed in the calendar from Wednesday, 5 May, to Sunday, 9 May 2027. These dates have not yet been officially confirmed and may cover only part of the full event. The festival in Jambes, a district of Namur, traditionally includes a longer-running Fête foraine, as well as the Ascension market and Pentecost events. In 2026, the officially announced funfair activities even ran from 13 to 31 May. The final dates for 2027 therefore need to be checked particularly carefully.
The three sites of the Fête foraine
Namur's tourism office lists three main funfair sites: Place de la Wallonie, Place de la Patinoire and Place de la Gare Fleurie. Depending on the year, travelling rides and amusement stalls are spread across them. The Fête foraine is also part of the popular traditional festival life on the banks of the Meuse. The calendar lists Place de la Wallonie as a guide to the venue. This does not mean that all showmen are located at this one site. The city has not yet published the current site plan for May 2027.
Rides and market activity
A Fête foraine includes rides, games and food stalls. However, the range on offer can change from year to year. For this reason, no specific attractions are currently listed as confirmed for Festivités Jamboises 2027. A confirmed list of showmen for the new edition is not yet available. The Ascension Day market should also be distinguished from the funfair opening hours: a market with traders often has different hours from individual amusement attractions.
Festivités Jamboises 2027: Ascension and Pentecost
In 2027, Ascension Day falls on Thursday, 6 May. The previous year, the Ascension market was open on the public holiday between 8 and 19. The well-known Pentecost parade is also part of the traditional Festivités Jamboises programme; in 2026, it took place on Whit Monday with music and folk groups. In 2027, however, Whit Monday falls on 17 May. The five days listed therefore cannot be assumed to cover the full period of all the festivities. The exact programme dates for 2027 have not yet been confirmed.
Admission and opening hours
The public squares and market streets in Jambes can normally be visited without a general admission ticket. You pay separately for rides and games, and for purchases. Final admission arrangements for 2027 have not yet been announced. A full schedule for the Fête foraine is also not yet available. Therefore, no hourly opening times are being made up. The Ascension market hours for 2026 are specifically not ride opening hours and will not be added to the MEC schedule.
Getting there and city information
Jambes lies south of the Meuse, opposite the centre of Namur. Place de la Wallonie and the nearby squares are accessible by public transport. There may be road closures and changes to traffic arrangements during the Ascension market and funfair. The official Namur tourism website describes the festival tradition. You can find more Belgian funfairs in the funfair calendar. The cover image is an original, clearly labelled illustrative image.
