This traditional fair transforms Bad Hersfeld's market square into a lively festival site with rides, food stalls and opportunities to meet. The famous Lullus fire is at its heart; it is traditionally lit on the first Monday to mark the start of the festival week.
Lullusfest Bad Hersfeld 2027: history since 852
Lullusfest is considered Germany's oldest fair and commemorates Saint Lull, whose death anniversary falls on 16 October. According to the organisers, its history dates back to 852. That is why Lollswoche is an established part of the year for many people in Bad Hersfeld. The famous call “Enner, zwoon, dräi – Bruder Lolls!” is as much a part of the festival as the historic setting of Marktplatz.
Rides, market stalls and food and drink
During the festival, showmen usually bring large and small rides, children's attractions, games and traditional fair food. In the evening, the square is a popular meeting place, with its illuminated carousels. Which individual physical rides will actually be set up for the 2027 edition has not yet been confirmed in a new line-up of rides. We therefore do not link previous appearances without checking. The historic fireworks photo also clearly shows an earlier edition.
Lullusfest Bad Hersfeld 2027: Lullusfeuer and programme
Lollsmontag marks the festive opening. According to the organisers' published tradition, the Lullusfeuer will be lit on 11 October 2027 at 12. Music, celebrations and various fair activities are also part of Lollswoche. However, the exact dates for family days, special events or possible fireworks for 2027 have not yet been fully announced. We therefore do not present programme items from previous years as current confirmed events.
Opening hours and admission
The event dates are confirmed, but the specific daily opening times for rides have not yet been published. The structured opening times schedule will therefore remain empty for now. General access to the publicly accessible Marktplatz has been free in previous years, while rides, games and food and drink are paid for separately. Special events may have separate conditions. Once the city publishes its current daily schedule, the times can be added reliably.
Getting there and further information
The market square is centrally located in Bad Hersfeld. Roads may be temporarily closed because of the fair and processions. In previous years, the town and transport companies offered additional Lolls buses and park-and-ride options. Before your trip, check the latest timetables and parking rules.
