XXL Höhenrausch – Anja Goetzke
Rotating giant swing soaring high above the fairground
Operator: Anja Goetzke (München) · since 2017
XXL Höhenrausch Goetzke is a huge giant swing that combines the sensation of flying freely with a rotating gondola. The attraction, operated by Anja Goetzke from München, is part of the XXL range by Dutch manufacturer KMG. Even from the fairground, it is easy to see why it is one of the most striking high rides: a powerful pendulum arm carries passengers high above the surrounding stalls, while the seating arrangement also rotates.

Highlights & records
Giant swing with a rotating gondola, a swing angle of up to about 120 degrees and a flight height of around 45 metres. The gondola ring has a total of 20 seats.
XXL Höhenrausch combines powerful pendulum swings with a rotating gondola: first, you are pressed into your seat, then the fairground seems to tip away beneath you.
What it’s like to ride XXL Höhenrausch Goetzke
At the start, you sit with the other passengers in a large, square gondola. Then the pendulum starts to gather speed. With every swing, your view travels from the fairground up to the sky and back again. What makes it special is the combination of two movements: the arm swings higher and higher while the gondola rotates around its own axis. This means your direction of view keeps changing.
At the bottom of the swing, the acceleration presses you firmly into your seat. At the highest points, by contrast, the change of direction feels light for a moment. This contrast between strong pressure and a brief sensation of weightlessness is what makes Höhenrausch so thrilling. The rotation also means that even several rides on the same attraction can feel different. The view across the fairground is spectacular, but never stays still for long.

The history of XXL Höhenrausch Goetzke
This giant swing did not always travel under its current name. The KMG ride first operated as Monster and travelled with Maier in Switzerland in its early years. It later passed through Denies-Kipp and Boos. After joining the Goetzke operation, it received its current name and a new design. Since 2017, Höhenrausch has been closely associated with Oktoberfest München.
The name refers to the great height the gondola reaches during a swing. The ride is also distinct from other high rides operated by the Goetzke family: a tower swing ride or a drop tower works very differently from this rotating pendulum. Who is the giant swing suitable for?
XXL Höhenrausch is best suited to people who enjoy intense high rides. If you are expecting a gentle scenic ride, this is not for you: the swing creates powerful acceleration and rapid changes of direction. You should be comfortable with great heights and strong movements. The ride is also an experience for spectators, as you can follow the gondola’s wide swings from quite a distance.
The ride is particularly impressive in the evening, when its lights trace the swinging motion against the dark sky. According to reports about the ride’s features, you can even watch passengers’ reactions on a screen at the front. You can check the current height and safety requirements at the entrance; they determine whether you can ride.
