Toboggan – Erno Roels
Four-lane giant slide by Preston & Barbieri
Operator: Erno Roels
Toboggan Roels is a travelling giant slide operated by Belgian showman Erno Roels. It was built by the Italian manufacturer Preston & Barbieri, which offers slides of this kind under the name Toboggan. Four side-by-side lanes wind down in waves to the fairground. This makes it one of the simple yet timeless classics that no major Belgian funfair is complete without.

Four parallel slides with waves – racing possible.
Grab a mat, climb the stairs and slide down over the waves: the Toboggan is funfair fun for all ages.
A ride on the Toboggan Roels
First, you climb the stairs with a sliding mat. At the top, you sit on the mat and give yourself a little push. Then you slide downhill over several bumps, briefly lifting off at each crest. With four lanes side by side, you can also race your friends or family.
At the bottom, a flat run-out gently slows you down. You then return the mat and can join the queue again straight away if you like.

History of the Toboggan
Giant slides have been part of the scene at European fairs for generations. Preston & Barbieri has built numerous toboggan rides that are still travelling today. This ride was previously operated by the Belgian showman family Delforge before passing to Roels. Today, you can see it at the Oktoberfoor in Ostend, among other places.

Operators and guest appearances of Toboggan Roels
Erno Roels took over the slide from the Delforge family, who still travel with a second Barbieri slide. The organiser’s line-up of rides will tell you whether Toboggan Roels is at your funfair. You can also find the upcoming dates in the funfair calendar. The overview of attractions shows you more family rides.
Who is the giant slide suitable for?
The slide is a typical family ride. Children have just as much fun here as adults reminiscing about their own childhood. However, you have to climb the stairs yourself, so younger children should be able to manage stairs safely. You can find out at the ticket office what age limit applies and whether children may ride accompanied by an adult. It is best to put loose items away safely beforehand.
