Lemgo – Kläschen Lemgo 2026
What to expect
Kläschen Lemgo 2026 takes place in the historic town centre from Thursday, 3 december, to Sunday, 6 december 2026. This traditional fair combines a long street of stalls with a real funfair: you can browse the market between Mittelstraße, Ostertor and Kastanienwall, while the rides await at Bleiche and Regenstorplatz. In the evening especially, the lights and lively market create a Christmas funfair atmosphere.
Kläschen Lemgo 2026: rides and stalls
The Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo has already published a provisional selection of rides for the 2026 edition. These include Break Dance, X-Factor, Shock Wave, Devil Dance, the bumper cars “up to date”, two Musikexpress rides, Pirates Adventure, SpaceX and Mama Caramba. For children, the list includes the “Abenteuerland” race track and the “Kentucky Derby” horse-racing game, among others. The city’s list is expressly provisional and not complete; individual attractions may still change before the fair. For this reason, no operators have been assigned based solely on similar names.
Opening times at Kläschen Lemgo 2026
The stalls open at 11 o’clock on all four days, and according to the city, the rides start from 14 o’clock. On Thursday, the stalls close at midnight. On Friday and Saturday, you can browse the market until 1:30 o’clock at night. On Sunday, 6 december, Kläschen ends at 21 o’clock. Important: the long market opening hours do not automatically apply to every individual ride. So allow some flexibility when planning your visit if you want to experience a particular attraction.
Fireworks and Sunday shopping
For the opening on Thursday, 3 december, the city announces opening fireworks at around 20:30 o’clock. This is a special occasion for an evening stroll. Shops in the town centre will also open on Sunday: according to Lemgo Marketing, they will be open from 13 to 18 o’clock. This lets you combine shopping, a funfair visit and a stroll through the decorated streets. Further specific programme details for 2026 will only be added once they have been officially confirmed.
A fair with a long history
Kläschen has its roots in the Nikolaimarkt and has been part of Lemgo for centuries. Lemgo Marketing cites the year 1365 as a historical reference point. Originally, trade around St Nicholas’s Day played an important role. Later, show booths, carousels and other amusements were added. The combination of a town-centre market and funfair continues to shape the event today. This blend is what distinguishes Kläschen from an ordinary Christmas market.
Getting there, parking and practical tips
The event spans several streets and squares. Regenstorplatz is a useful landmark for the rides, while the street of stalls extends into the town centre. Streets may be closed and parking may be limited because of the event. The city generally recommends travelling by public transport. Specific special bus timetables and closures for 2026 still need to be checked separately; do not rely on plans from 2025. Current individual ride prices have not yet been officially confirmed either.
You can find more events in the Kirmestermine calendar. The current line-up of rides, possible changes and further information are published by the Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo on its official Kläschen page.
