Highlights & records

A change of theme from winter-themed Snow-Gate to a dinosaur and volcano setting for the 2026 season; moving simulator with 14 seats according to Ride-Index.

It is not the height but the illusion of another world that creates the excitement.

Primeval Quest Bronswyk: what to expect from the simulator

Primeval Quest Bronswyk is not about reaching the greatest possible height above the fairground. Instead, you can expect a themed simulator that combines a story with movement and effects. The concept takes you into a world of dinosaurs and volcanic landscapes. During the show, the impressions come from the interplay between the staging and the moving ride. How intense it feels can vary depending on the programme and your personal sensitivity. If you enjoy looking for unusual experiences at funfairs, the simulator offers an alternative to a roller coaster or round ride. The exact design of the current show may change over the course of the season.

What makes Primeval Quest special?

Its appeal lies in the change of theme: an older simulator with a winter theme became a dinosaur attraction. Instead of a traditional ride whose movements are visible from the outside, this ride invites you to imagine an expedition into prehistoric times. This makes the experience different from a roller coaster. There, you can see the movement before you get on. Here, the staging determines what you experience. For fans of themed rides, that can be particularly exciting. Check the operator’s latest announcements to find out which additional live effects are actually used at each venue.

The story of Venturer X14, Snow-Gate and Primeval Quest

The technical attraction was made by the British manufacturer Thompson. Industry directories list previous operators in Hamburg and Minden. As Venturer X14, the simulator travelled around German fairgrounds for many years. It was later called Snow-Gate and had a winter theme. For 2026, a new dinosaur theme was announced under the name Primeval Quest. Thomas Bronswyk from Braunschweig is named as the current operator. Publicly available information differs on exactly when the operator changed. We therefore deliberately avoid giving an unconfirmed year of takeover. The original year of construction has also not been reliably documented.

Timeline

Until 2004: Rössing (Hamburg); 2005–2022: Berni Tacke (Minden); formerly Venturer X14, later Snow-Gate (2023–2025). From 2026: dinosaur theme as Primeval Quest; specialist sources disagree on the year Bronswyk took over.

Who is Primeval Quest Bronswyk suitable for?

This ride is for visitors who would like to experience a short story and enjoy moving simulators. If you like dinosaurs, film adventures or immersive attractions, it is worth checking out the programme. However, bear in mind that simulators can be unpleasant for people prone to motion sickness or sensitive to movement and visual effects. We could not reliably confirm a generally applicable minimum height or age limit for this particular attraction. So check the entry rules at the venue. If you are bringing young children, it is a good idea to ask staff about the intensity of the show first.

Tips and further information

Allow some time to read the information boards before the show. On moving simulator rides, it is worth taking your personal sensitivities seriously and asking staff if necessary. Comparing it with traditional ghost trains is only partly useful. Those usually take you along a track through different scenes. Primeval Quest, by contrast, offers a simulated journey. If you are interested in its technical development, its previous names are important clues. Find more rides in our attractions overview. Historical details of the attraction are documented in the Ride-Index technical profile.
