Tom der Tiger Wegener: what the roller coaster ride is like
The ride begins as you board the articulated train. The train is then carried up a lift to the first height before rolling along the winding track. The highlights are gentle drops, changes of direction and the feeling of sitting on a proper roller coaster for the first time. Unlike large looping roller coasters, Tom der Tiger focuses on a family-friendly ride without inversions.
The ride has a striking jungle and animal theme. This includes a tiger design for the train and additional figures nearby. The elephant “Platschi” is particularly well known; according to Kirmesecke's description, it sprays water. These details make the ride interesting not only for riders but also for families watching.

History of Tom der Tiger Wegener
The premiere took place on 26 September 2014 at the Oldenburger Kramermarkt. This makes the ride considerably newer than many historic children's roller coasters at German fairs. It has been associated with showman business Wegener since it first opened. The ride database Ride-Index lists it as the BrucoMela kiddie coaster by Italian manufacturer Pinfari Rides.
In the years that followed, Tom der Tiger travelled to numerous fairs in northern Germany. Documented appearances include Bremer Osterwiese, Send in Münster and Kramermarkt in Oldenburg. The ride was also announced for Schützenfest in Hannover and other fairs. Its regular appearances show how well this compact roller coaster fits into an offering for different age groups.

Operator and set-up
Adriano Wegener from Bremen operates the roller coaster. Ride-Index records a footprint of around 22 by 12 metres, a height of about seven metres and a power connection of 20 kilowatts. The train has a capacity of 24 passengers. Its compact design allows it to appear at traditional fairgrounds without requiring the dimensions of a large travelling roller coaster.
Who is Tom der Tiger suitable for?
Tom der Tiger is especially suited to children and families who want to enjoy a roller coaster without extreme ride elements. The train has room for up to 24 people. Families can therefore plan to ride together, provided they meet the safety and height requirements in force at the ride. Here, the swinging motion of a carousel is replaced by a proper ride on rails.
For young roller coaster fans, the sequence of lift, bends and descents is often the most exciting part. At the same time, the tiger design makes it clear that the ride is a children's attraction. You can find more travelling family roller coasters in the attraction directory.
