Self-piloted space gliders for young pilots
Ride experience in Star Trek
Fourteen space gliders invite you on a short flight. Children control the height of their cabin themselves. This ride combines a shared trip with a little steering task of their own. The space theme turns a carousel ride into a journey for young pilots.
As the cabins move around the centre, their movement up and down changes the view of the funfair. Children can watch how their controls work. If you are still unsure, watch a round first and ask the staff to explain how the controls work. This makes it clear what happens during the ride before you get on.

Star Trek: Technology and Space Gliders
The Cranger description mentions 14 space gliders and a ride height of up to six metres. This refers to the movement and is not a confirmed overall height of the ride. The figure is therefore not entered in the field for the ride's height.
A profile by Oberhausen’s city magazine from 2024 also confirms the 14 cabins. It describes how the Krenz family spotted the carousel 1974 at a trade fair and then decided to buy it from a French manufacturer. No exact manufacturer name or explicitly documented year of construction is given. The purchase year is therefore not listed as the year of construction without verification.
Female operator and family history
Jutta Krenz continues to run the family business following the death of her husband, Willi. The portrait describes her work at the till and the support she receives from her nephew. For Cranger Kirmes 2026, Jutta Krenz is officially named as the operator of Star Trek.
Timeline
According to Oh! Stadtmagazin 2024, the Krenz family discovered the carousel at a trade fair in 1974 and decided to buy it from a French manufacturer. No year of manufacture or manufacturer name is explicitly documented.
