Phaenomenon VR – Marschall
Virtual adventure ride in a moving simulator cinema
Operator: Marschall showman family (Neukamperfehn)
Phaenomenon VR by Marschall is a mobile simulator that combines the experience of a virtual ride with the movements of a real seat platform. Instead of travelling along tracks through a landscape, you put on a VR headset and immerse yourself in a digital environment. As the world on screen changes, your seat moves in sync with the action. This creates a sensation that is quite different from watching an ordinary film.

Highlights & records
Mobile VR cinema attraction with a moving seat platform and virtual film worlds; premiered in 1999 in Kamenz.
Phaenomenon combines immersion in digital worlds with real seat movements, offering a different kind of funfair ride.
How the Phaenomenon VR experience works
Inside the attraction, guests take their seats and fasten the provided restraints. The virtual journey then begins. You see the action through the VR headset and feel the platform move at the same time. The combination of these two sensations is what makes the simulator special: a turn, acceleration or unexpected movement feels more intense through the visual perspective than it would on a stationary cinema screen.
The experience relies less on great height or free falls and more on the coordination of images and movement. If you know classic round rides, you will mainly notice the difference in how you experience this one. You are not watching an attraction from the outside but are right in the middle of the staged action.

History of Phaenomenon VR by Marschall
The attraction's history goes back to 1999. At the time, the ride made its debut under Kunze from Moritzburg at the Forstfest in Kamenz. After its first season, it was stored for a time and later operated abroad. Other stages in its operating history include Schramm & Sohn from Frankfurt, Totzek and Bauer from Switzerland. Today, Phaenomenon is operated by the Marschall showman family from Neukamperfehn.
Its development from an earlier 3D/4D cinema into a VR simulator is an important part of its identity. While a traditional simulation cinema uses a shared screen, the VR headset gives each visitor an individual view of the world being portrayed. Phaenomenon is therefore a good example of the development of mobile cinema attractions at German fairs.

Who is Phaenomenon VR suitable for?
The simulator is interesting for visitors who enjoy digital worlds and want to experience something other than a roller coaster at the funfair. The combination of moving seats and VR images can be particularly impressive. If you are sensitive to virtual motion, speak to the staff before boarding. Any notices displayed on site also apply to children riding.
As guests take their seats inside, you cannot see the whole experience from the outside. However, the striking simulator façade makes you curious about what is happening behind the entrance. For technology fans, it is particularly exciting that the attraction combines a classic motion cinema with modern VR presentation.
Special features and tips for your visit
The specialist Ride-Index chronicle describes a compact travelling attraction with a capacity of 18 people. It requires its own technical infrastructure for projection or VR playback and seat movement. The changes of ownership also show how long-lasting a ride like this can be when it is continually updated with new technology.
If you would like to visit Phaenomenon VR, ask on site about the current film programme, duration and riding requirements. You can find more similar experiences in the attractions directory. The simulator offers an alternative to traditional open-air rides, especially for visitors who want to try a virtual adventure ride.
