Parcour – FTE Ahrend brings an unusually well-travelled roller coaster back to the German funfair scene. The ride has already appeared at fairs as “Cyber Space” and later operated in theme parks under the names “Whirlwind” and “Sky Spin”. A return under Ahrend has been announced for the 2027 season. It is always the same physical Maurer roller coaster—not a brand-new ride.

Highlights & records

A former travelling spinning coaster that has been relocated several times, and later operated at Camelot and Skyline Park. A planned return as Parcour from 2027.

A spinning coaster with a travelling past, two theme park stops and a new funfair era announced.

From theme park operation back on the road

A spinning coaster that has already been relocated several times is unusual. While many roller coasters remain permanently at one location, this ride has experienced several different phases: first as a transportable fairground ride, then in two theme parks and possibly back on the road as a travelling ride in the future. This eventful history makes it an interesting piece of funfair history.

If you want to find out which fairgrounds the ride will visit in future, you can also use our funfair dates overview. Specific appearances will only be assigned once they have been reported with verifiable details.

What riding Parcour – FTE Ahrend is like

What makes this spinning coaster special is its freely rotating cars. As the ride travels through bends, drops and changes of direction, your view of the track keeps changing. So you do not face forwards throughout the ride. Instead, the rotation also depends on how the weight is distributed in the car and how the sections of track follow one another. This makes each lap a little different.

The train is first pulled up to height by a chain lift. Then the compact track layout and rotating cars create the ride experience. Unlike a traditional looping coaster, the focus here is not on inversions, but on the interplay of curves, spinning and short drops.

History of Parcour – FTE Ahrend

The story begins around 2000: the Maurer ride initially travelled as Cyber Space with Bruch and then Kaiser. In 2003, it moved to Great Britain. There it operated as Whirlwind at Camelot Theme Park until 2012. After the theme park closed, the roller coaster found a new home in Germany.

From 2013, the ride operated as Sky Spin at Allgäu Skyline Park in Bad Wörishofen. It remained there until the end of the 2025 season. Following its sale to Ahrend, refurbishment for a return to fairs is being considered. The announced name for 2027 is Parcour. The first appearances can be added once the tour schedule is published.

Timeline

Travelling as Cyber Space from around 2000; Whirlwind at Camelot Theme Park from 2003 to 2012; Sky Spin at Allgäu Skyline Park from 2013 to 2025; a return to German fairs as Parcour under FTE Ahrend is planned from 2027.

Who is this roller coaster suitable for?

If you enjoy varied roller coasters and feel comfortable with sideways movement, this ride should be especially interesting. The freely rotating cars can feel unusual, especially if you are used to roller coaster cars that do not rotate. At Skyline Park, the ride was part of the roller coaster offering for many years. The operator will decide which specific height and age restrictions apply to future travelling operation after the ride reopens.

As the ride has already operated in different ways, fans may also enjoy looking at its theming. The historic name Cyber Space represents its early funfair years, Whirlwind its time at the British park, and Sky Spin its long period in the Allgäu.
