Highlights & records

Compact, colourfully themed Big Apple family roller coaster for travelling use; started operating in Germany under Weber in 2021.

Turns and small hills instead of loops: an introduction to the world of roller coasters for families.

What it's like to ride Family Coaster Weber

The ride begins with a relatively gentle climb. The track then passes through turns and small changes in height. Instead of loops and extreme speed, the focus is on a ride that is easy to follow. You sit in a car in the connected train and experience the ups and downs from a low vantage point above the fairground. The turns and movement on the tracks can be exciting enough for younger roller coaster fans.

Part of the appeal of these rides is their theming: the train is often designed as a caterpillar travelling through a large apple. This offers a playful introduction to roller coasters that is also easy to follow from the ground. It is still a real ride on rails, though. So, if you are with small children, always check the specific admission requirements at the entrance and do not assume that the family-friendly appearance tells you everything.

History of Family Coaster Weber

According to the documented basic data from Ride-Index, the roller coaster dates from 2018 and was manufactured by SBF-Visa in Italy. Before it began travelling in Germany, it is said to have been a fixed attraction operated by Snep in the Netherlands until 2020. According to Ride-Index, the roller coaster made its debut under Nicky and Jessica Weber on 11 September 2021 at Bliede-Park Emden. The name “Big Apple” describes the roller coaster type and helps distinguish it from other family coasters with the same name.

The Weber showman family is also listed in public application documents: a municipal list of applicants for the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt 2025 lists Jessica Weber with a roller coaster called Family Coaster. The document gives the space required as approximately 28 metres long and 12,5 metres wide. Other databases give the width as around 12 metres. These slightly different figures may reflect different methods of measurement and should not be taken as exact set-up dimensions.

Who is the family roller coaster suitable for?

Family Coaster Weber appeals to families and visitors who are not looking for great heights or inversions. For children, it can be a lovely step from a carousel to their first roller coaster. It is also suitable for adults who want to enjoy the funfair with their children, provided the current seating and height rules allow it.

If you are seeing the ride for the first time, watch a full cycle. This will show you how the train travels over the hills and through the turns. If you are visiting with small children, it is also worth choosing a time when it is less busy. The actual ride price, minimum height and whether a companion is required depend on the showman's current notices. We deliberately do not give fixed figures without information from the operator.

Family Coaster Weber: tips and current appearances

The ride travels between different fairgrounds. One documented appearance was at Spandauer Winterland in November 2025; a trip report explicitly identifies it as Weber's Family Coaster. However, this does not automatically mean it will appear at the 2026 edition. Confirmed appearances are linked to an event only when current evidence verifies the specific season.

For a first impression, you can watch an on-ride video of 2025. It shows Weber's Family Coaster at the Erfurter Altstadtfrühling. You can find more current funfair rides in our attraction directory.
