Children's sports carousel – Dieckmann junior

Classic carousel rides for children at the Hamburger DOM

Operator: Dieckmann junior (Hamburg)

Kindersportkarussell Dieckmann is a children's ride associated with the Hamburg showman family Dieckmann. The Hamburger DOM line-up of rides lists it explicitly under “Dieckmann jun.”. Its focus is on the classic carousel experience for young visitors: a gentle ride that is quite different from the pace of the larger rides on the Heiligengeistfeld.

Dieckmann junior's children's sports carousel has been among the children's attractions on the Heiligengeistfeld for years.

Dieckmann's children's sports carousel at the Hamburger DOM

At the Hamburger DOM, the variety of children's rides is almost as defining as the attractions for teenagers and adults. Dieckmann junior's children's sports carousel has been part of the fairground's familiar family offering for several years. A line-up of rides for the Summer DOM 2022 already lists the children's ride as “Kinder Traum – Dieckmann jun.”. The lists for the Spring DOM 2026 and Summer DOM 2026 use the name “Kindersportkarussell – Dieckmann jun.”. The different spellings make it important to identify the attraction by its operator, not just by a generic carousel name.

The ride offers a contrast to the large roller coasters and faster circular rides in the fair’s children’s area. As you walk around Heiligengeistfeld, you can discover a range of rides without every family member having to choose the same level of intensity.

A ride experience for children

The children's sports carousel is part of the tradition of ground and sports carousels. The aim here is not to reach great heights, but to enjoy a ride independently in the sheltered setting of a children's ride. These attractions are especially popular on a first visit to a funfair, as children stay within sight of their parents and the ride is easy to follow. This makes it a suitable stop for families who also want to visit the other attractions at the DOM.

As with any children's ride, the current age and height restrictions are displayed at the entrance. Check the signs and ask a member of staff if your child is riding for the first time. This helps you tailor your visit to the needs of younger passengers.

Operator and history of the children's sports carousel

The Dieckmann showman family is associated with several children's carousels and other rides in northern Germany. They are not necessarily all the same ride. Alongside the children's sports carousel operated by Dieckmann junior, a separate nostalgic children's carousel is also listed under the name Dieckmann at the Hamburg DOM. These two rides are listed separately in the line-ups of rides.

It is also worth noting, when looking at the family's history, that ride databases describe different sports carousels belonging to the family. The Hamburger Kindertraum and a Kindertraum carousel each have their own technical and historical details. The children's sports carousel in today's event programme is therefore treated as a separate operator profile, without adopting the technical details of another ride.

Dieckmann children's sports carousel for your family visit

If you are visiting the DOM with younger children, it's worth including the children's sports carousel in your walk around the grounds. Among the larger rides, it offers a ride where the little ones take centre stage. Find more attractions in our overview of funfair attractions.
