What to expect

Sechseläuten Zürich 2027 is officially confirmed to take place from 16.04.2027 to 19.04.2027. Here you can find information about the festival site, attractions and visitor information.

Sechseläuten Zürich 2027: official festival dates

Sechseläuten has officially been announced for Friday, 16 April, to Monday, 19 April 2027. The event opens with activities hosted by the guest canton of Lucerne and various festivities. The children's procession follows on Sunday. On Monday, the guilds parade to Sechseläutenplatz, where the Böögg is traditionally burned. These main events have already been confirmed on the organisers' website. Details of the full programme will be added later.

Sechseläutenplatz and festival areas

Sechseläutenplatz by Bellevue is the main landmark for the spring festival. The highlight, the Böögg, takes place here. The guest canton also presents itself at Lindenhof. The processions pass through the city centre and use several streets. It would therefore be inaccurate to limit all the festival activities to Sechseläutenplatz. The map marks the central location, while exact routes are available in the official programme information.

Funfair rides around Sechseläuten

The City of Zürich permits showmen's and funfair businesses to operate before, during and after Sechseläuten under separate licences. This rule allows up to ten operating days over certain weekends. However, this does not confirm a specific list of rides or an exact operating period for 2027. This listing therefore refers to the officially announced spring festival. The actual funfair operating dates may extend beyond this period or differ from it. We therefore do not make unverified claims about individual attractions.

Sechseläuten Zürich 2027: admission and programme

The traditional festivities in the public streets can generally be watched without paying for a seat. However, the organisers sell tickets for reserved benches and grandstands. Rides operated by showmen may also normally cost extra. The programme already lists the children's procession and the guilds' parade, along with their start times. Opening times for any rides have not yet been published. We therefore do not invent operating times for the funfair.

Getting there and traffic arrangements

Public transport connections to central Zürich are a good option for your visit. Streets may be closed, especially around Bellevue, Sechseläutenplatz and the procession routes. Traffic arrangements also often change for this large city festival. Check the latest information from the City of Zürich and the public transport authority before your visit. As the main event takes place in the city centre, travelling by tram and train is a particularly convenient option.

History and official information

Sechseläuten is a traditional Zürich spring festival closely associated with the guilds. The burning of the Böögg is a well-known symbol of the transition to the warmer season. The guest canton for the 2027 edition is Lucerne. You can find more funfairs in the events calendar. The Central Committee of the Guilds of Zürich publishes the final schedule on the official website. The cover image is a labelled archive photo from 2026.
