In previous editions, the fairground also extended to nearby car parks at the Kulturforum. This makes the funfair easy to reach on foot from the town centre.
For five days, traditional showman attractions meet larger rides and a wide range of food and drink. Families, young people and adults can all find different ways to enjoy a varied afternoon or evening.
Rides and thrills
For 2026, Stadtmarketing announced bumper cars, Break Dance and a Ferris wheel, among other attractions. “Walk of Dead” was also on the programme. The “Big Monster” ride was also part of the offering announced at the time. This list explicitly describes the past; it does not confirm that the same rides will be there 2027.
The Himmelfahrtskirmes often offers plenty of variety, especially for fans of fast rides. In previous years, there have been children's carousels and family-friendly attractions for younger visitors. Afterwards, you can stroll along the funfair strip between game stalls and treats such as roasted almonds and gingerbread hearts.

The planned dates are from 6 to 10 May 2027. The daily opening times are provisional and come from Stadtmarketing's official announcement for 2026. They take into account the exceptions at the weekend and on the final day of the funfair. Once the organiser confirms the opening times for 2027, those will of course take precedence.

Sunday shopping and a family day on Monday are part of the Himmelfahrtskirmes tradition in Witten. In 2026, a musical fireworks display was also held on Saturday. The specific permits, event times and programme details for 2027 have not yet been published, so they are not listed as confirmed individual events.
Admission and getting to Saalbau
Based on previous practice, entry to the funfair strip is free; rides, games and food are charged separately. Saalbau Witten on Bergerstraße 25 is a useful landmark. According to the Kulturforum, the main railway station is only a few minutes' walk away. Buses also stop nearby. Parking may be limited due to the funfair set-up.
