What to expect
The Verdener Domweih 2027 takes place from Saturday, 5 June to Thursday, 10 June 2027. The official Domweih calendar published by the city of Verden has already confirmed these dates. For six days, the town centre becomes a fair with rides, games, market stalls and food and drink. General admission to the public festival area is free; individual rides and purchases cost extra.
Verdener Domweih 2027: fair in the heart of the town centre
The Domweih stretches across several streets and squares in Verden town centre. Between Johanniswall, the historic centre and the market lanes, rides are as much a part of the experience as a leisurely stroll through town. The combination of traditional stalls and modern rides makes this fair especially varied. The market’s history dates back to the trading rights granted in 985. This makes the Domweih one of northern Germany’s most traditional events. You can enjoy a quick funfair visit or spend a whole day at the fair.
Rides, Pöttjermarkt and food and drink
One of the event’s key features is the Pöttjermarkt, where traders traditionally sell household goods and other wares. The Domweih also usually features large rides, children’s rides, game stalls, sweet treats and food stalls. The exact line-up of rides for 2027 will not be known until the current showman applications have been reviewed and the pitches allocated. So individual rides from previous years should not be treated as confirmed for this year. Our pictures specifically show the 2013 Domweih and are not photos of the 2027 edition.
Verdener Domweih 2027: opening times
Opening times are provisional, as of 2026. According to the latest published official daily schedule, the fair opened on Saturday afternoon after the opening ceremony; on Sunday, a church service and a traditional morning get-together were scheduled early in the day. From Monday to Thursday, the general market was open from 14 o’clock until midnight. These times from the previous year are included in the structured opening-hours schedule as a guide. The daily opening times for the 2027 edition have not yet been fully reconfirmed. Individual rides or food and drink businesses may also have different opening times.
Domweih procession, church service and traditional closing ceremony
The Domweih usually begins with a large procession through the town centre. The fair is then officially opened with firecrackers and a traditional proclamation. A church service in the bumper cars and lively music events are among its special features. On the final evening, the Domweih is symbolically laid to rest. The exact times for these events in 2027 have not yet been published. So no daily events from 2026 have been carried over to the coming year without checking. A festival schedule published later may add further details.
Admission, getting there and visitor information
There is no general admission charge to visit the public Domweih grounds. Individual rides, games, food and drinks are charged separately. Roads may be closed, particularly during the opening. It is therefore worth travelling to Verden by train or bus and walking from the station to the town centre. Check for current road closures and parking information. You can find the confirmed annual dates and further information on the official Domweih website. Our fair calendar lists other fairs..
