Steinen – Steiner Chilbi 2027

Steiner Chilbi 2027 takes place from Friday, 1 October to Monday, 4 October 2027 in the village centre of Steinen in the canton of Schwyz. The Steiner Chilbi association explicitly confirms these dates on its official website. You can look forward to a traditional church fair with club-run food and drink venues, music, market stalls and fairground rides. Important for your visit: some food and drink venues are planned for Friday, but there will not yet be regular market or ride operations.

Steiner Chilbi 2027: village square and festival site

The event takes place mainly around the village square and nearby Rossbergstrasse. It is closely connected with local association life. You can move between rides, food and drink venues and market stalls without everything being confined to a single enclosed area. The organisers also provide information about temporary traffic bans and diversions around the village square. This makes room for the many visitors during the main days. The exact arrangements depend on the day.

Funfair rides, Chilbi and market

The Steiner Chilbi has its roots in the local church fair and is held on the first weekend in October each year. Historically, the festival is linked to the patron saint, St James. Until the First World War, the event also included a livestock and goods market. Today, the focus is mainly on Chilbi rides, showmen, clubs, stalls and communal entertainment. Which rides and operators will take part 2027 will be announced later. Current line-up lists and allocations therefore remain unconfirmed until information for the relevant year is available.

Folk music and tradition

The festival is even associated with a well-known piece of music: the schottische „Steiner Chilbi“ by Jost Ribary senior was composed in 1933 and is closely linked to the town. According to the organisers, the so-called Musigkarussell is also part of its cultural character. Young musicians perform alongside experienced musicians at various venues. Whether individual performances will take place 2027, and in what form, will be announced in the annual programme. So you can enjoy not only a Chilbi with rides, but also a piece of living local culture.

Steiner Chilbi 2027: admission and opening times

The public village and market area is usually free to enter. Individual rides, games, food and drinks are charged separately. The association lists the following opening times for the Chilbi rides and market: Saturday from 13.30, Sunday from 11 and Monday from 13.30. Free rides are also specifically announced for Monday from 13.30 to 14. According to the publicly available Chilbi regulations, operations end at 19 on Monday. As no consistent, binding closing times for all attractions are published for Saturday and Sunday, they are not included in the structured schedule.

Getting there and latest information

Steinen village square is accessible by public transport. Officially designated parking is available at locations including the Zeughaus, railway station, BSZ and Horst. Due to planned road closures at the village square and Rossbergstrasse, the organiser expressly recommends travelling by public transport.
